Very song magnet. You definitely know when you cross metal. Finds nail heads in finished wall. You have to search for 1st nail and then determine on center distance to next stud, but then it's a breeze to find nails both vertical and horizontal

This product does NOT perform as advertised. Will not detect nails behind the 4"x 4" ceramic tiles on shower walls, I plan on returning.
