Such an important deck for any tarot lover/practitioner
Regardless of your thoughts/views on Aleister Crowley, this is such a great deck to have to learn more in-depth symbolism thatâs within each card. I collect & am also a practitioner so I have a very large collection of decks. If youâre used to the traditional RWS system, this is a bit of a different deck but a great one full of beautiful art. Aleister Crowley & Frieda, Lady Harris spent years designing a system for tarot involving mathematical formulas & astrology. Itâs rich/very in-depth in symbolism. In fact, you learn so much more about the Major Arcana & the meanings of each card in the Minor Arcana with this deck. The belief systems of Thoth & RWS are different from a historical standpoint but can be similar in modern terms so if you want to use them with the RWS meanings, you can but some cards have different meanings. These cards are what Aleister Crowley designed his religion, Thelema, around. You do not have to be a believer of Thelema or any religion/dogma of any kind, for these cards to be of importance to you though, which is great. Something to keep in mind when I use this deck is thereâs always a positive where thereâs a negative, especially keep in mind when reading the captions of the cards. Remember the bigger picture, see if thereâs any symbolism in the cards that add to the big picture. The guidebook that comes with the deck explains the history & the work that has gone into this absolutely stunningly beautiful & important deck. It also has the meanings for each card of course. I absolutely recommend the âThe Crowley Tarot: The Handbook to the Cardsâ book by Akron & Hajo Banzhaf (sold separately) to delve even further into the meanings of each card. This will enhance your regular, every-day tarot experience, even when not working with this deck in particular. But even in the included guidebook, it balances being deep in meaning without being verbose & provides more clarity. Thereâs also extensive info online regarding this deck in particular. It provides the meaning of the symbolism of the card, its astrological & mathematical significances, then it goes into the divinatory meaning. You can see the math in the symbolism in each & every single card. Not a single card was ignored in any way.The phenomenal art for each card corresponds with the meanings in a mathematical or astrological way. The art is amazing. Itâs really gorgeous, adds new perspective & really makes you rethink tarot, in a good, more expansive way. Iâm able to get very detailed readings. The card size is perfect. I included a comparison picture as the last of my pictures. The order from left to right is the 25th Anniversary of Enchanted Tarot, then this Thoth Tarot deck, then a standard-size tarot from The Intuitive Night Goddess Tarot & finally a playing-card-size Vanessa Tarot card, to help people get an idea of the size of the cards. Theyâre close in size to a lot of oracle cards. Theyâre this size because the smaller deck just doesnât do the art justice. If youâre wanting Thoth Tarot, I highly suggest the large deck. I have very small hands (wedding ring size is 4.5 if that helps) but these cards shuffle very easily. I donât riffle shuffle any of my cards, regardless of size. I always use the overhand shuffle & these shuffle smooth like butter. The box it came in is my only issue but I can keep them in a velvet bag for protection because this box wonât hold up. I think for these cards, with this art, it deserves nicer packing. If not nicer packing, at least they should include a velvet bag like Enchanted Tarot does (but they also included a very nice box). So I suggest getting yourself a nice velvet bag big enough bag to hold the cards to keep them protected. But itâs not enough of a deal for me to take away any stars because these cards are just amazing in every single way.If youâre just getting into tarot or have been practicing for a while, this deck is for you. I honestly think everyone into divination of any sort should have this deck & think every tarot lover should have this deck! Itâs an amazing deck & Iâm so happy to have the large size now!

The only deck you need
Pick up this or a Rider Waite or a Marseille or all three and you will be set. Probably the deepest deck I have studied with and one of the better in terms of art of the schools. I have purchased at least 5 copies of varying sizes of this deck, this is about as big as the Sacred Rebels Oracle by Alannah Fairchild. The card stock is bendy, thin and difficult to shuffle in a riffle without cutting into separate smaller piles. the one I received had different art than previous editions, but according to the LWB they are a truer representation and color corrected in digital photography. It came with 2 extra cards, the usual OTO advertisement and a Photo of a younger Crowley with a shot of a younger Frieda Lady Harris on the reverse.

Itâs perfect.
The best deck Iâve ever worked with. Arrived in perfect condition. I bought the larger version because my eyesight isnât what it used to be and I wanted to be sure to see the vivid art and rich symbolism of each card. Works perfect for me, though I think smaller decks overall are easier to shuffle and handle.Have had a few significant jumpers and readings are very intuitive and accurate. It has never let me down and insists on giving me nothing but major arcana (called âtrumpâ cards in this deck).Absolutely recommend adding this deck to your collection. Crowleyâs deck is perfectly constructed. 93 93/93

Beautiful, profound deck. Awful box.
This deck lives up to my expectations in terms of production quality and the print quality etc. The large size is very, very nice, even though it's a bit of a challenge to shuffle. (And I DO have large hands) This makes me work more intentionally and slowly with these cards, which is probably a good thing. The energy of the deck is profound and deep right out of the gate, and the artwork is stunning. The box, however, really needs improvement. It's a super flimsy box that is too lightweight for the cards (see photos) and has almost caused me to drop my cards by opening from the bottom at inappropriate moments. For such an iconic deck, the box really needs improvement. I'm going to look for an after market container or wrap the deck so I don't damage my cards. Otherwise, they're great. Just be careful when handling them so they don't fall out!The black and white guidebook that comes with this deck is very basic and short but IS specific to the Thoth tarot deck, not just a generic tarot explanation, so it is helpful.
