Exactly what I expected.....
Exactly what I expected for the price. Cheaply made but still a cool looking pocket knife. Not a shavin razor! It says clearly in the description "folding knife". It was never intended to be used for shaving. Anyone attempting to shave with this is a f****** idiot. If you want a real shaving razor then spend the extra bucks for an actual straight razor. But all I wanted was a knife to carry that looks like a straight razor, and for this price, its perfect. Comes pretty sharp too.

Good only for learning blade care.
Okay, so originally I thought that I would be able to sharpen this blade to straight razor standard quality. I was completely wrong. I have worked the blade for almost 2 weeks now using an array of different stones and have produced a razor edge on it, however, I just cannot seem to get it sharp enough to shave with. Sure, it will cut hair, but if you try to shave your face with it, you will end up with the worst case of razor burn known to man. The steel is of extremely low quality and I now believe to be impossible to get that extra fine edge on it. Also, the hinge is extremely loose which can prove to be very dangerous while trying to strop the blade. I have tried to tighten it, but to no avail. On the plus side, working this blade, I have learned the proper way and angle to hone a straight razor. I did manage to scuff the edge of the spine while honing, and if this were a $100 dollar blade, I would be rather upset at myself. So, in my humble opinion, this blade is a good practice blade. Not for shaving, but for learning the proper way to hone and strop. As with any blade, please use extreme caution while working with it. Good luck, and remember, you get what you pay for....

Great quality but not shave ready
The knife is really nice. I read previous reviews complaining about it so I had my doubts but I ended up ordering it and I don't regret it. The only thing you need to know up front is the fact that it doesn't come shave ready. I really like the weight, it feels really good when you know how to hold it. It comes with a soft bag to keep it after shaving.

Would not purchase for myself
I received one of these as a Christmas gift from my father in law. At first glance, I was very excited about it, until I started reading reviews on various straight razor pages. All of the ones I saw state to stay away from this brand for several reasons: First, they say the blade either will not sharpen, or won't hold an edge. After taking my razor to two shops, and spending 45 minutes attempting to put an edge on it, both gentlemen told me it couldn't be done, that it wouldn't hold an edge. One of them even gave me a vintage razor he had, so that I wouldn't give up on straight razor shaving. I tried shaving with my SHARPENED Kriegar when I got home, and I couldn't even flake off skin. Second issue that came up frequently online is that vastly inferior blades are being made in China and Pakistan, shipping the parts to Germany, being assembled there, and therefore, becoming "Made In Germany". Kriegar is a very German-sounding name, yet on the blade, mine clearly states "Made in China". Third and final, the blade should have a little bit of resistance when opening the blade...that is not the case with the blade I received. It will not stay open on its own, and makes it very difficult to even learn the basic concept of straight razor shaving. All in all, I would not recommend this product to anybody, especially a new straight razor shaver like myself.

It looks and feels great. I was annoyed it didn't come sharp enough ...
Sweeeet blade for traditionalists. It looks and feels great. I was annoyed it didn't come sharp enough to use. I mean I open the box and gotta try it, not go find my knife sharpener. Still, very nice blade.

bought for my son
my sons beard is what is called "a blue beard". this kind of beard is very hard to cut; no electric razor will cut his beard and it was getting expensive to buy disposable razors. so I went looking for something like this.
