Strop is decent, blade not so much.
I didn't expect much from this when I purchased it, and was pleasantly suprised to see that the strop is decent. For the strop alone, this kit is worth the money, although if they sell the strop separately for less that's probably the way to go. The strop was made in pakistan, according to the sticker on it.The blade is not the worst I've seen, but it is very far from the best. First of all, the origin of the blade is quite confusing. The box it comes in says USA on it, the blade says "German Surgical Steel" and there's a sticker indicating that it was made in china. The razor itself is very heavy and would make precision work difficult. I suppose it'd make a decent pocket knife if that's your thing, but I wouldn't recommend using it on your face without a serious bit of honing. Mine came with a nice divot in the middle of the blade and i had to really grind away at it for about half an hour to get rid of it.All in all, for a pocket knife and a decent leather strop, I'd say this is not a terrible purchase, but you definitely can do better.

Quality display piece. Not so good as an actual razor.
I purchased this not to use on my face, but to be in the background of a photograph I was working on. For the price, it's a nice looking razor and strop, but at this price, not something you should expect to be able to shave with without doing a lot of work on the blade. The razor itself is solidly built and has a nice heft to it. The strop was okay, but one odd detail jumped out at me right away. The loop on the far end is, and I'm completely serious typing this, nothing more than a nail (yes, an actual nail) bent into a ring. For the purposes I was using it for, I certainly didn't need to spend nearly $200.00 for a quality razor. For the price, it makes a nice display piece or background prop.

great beginner blade...with resharpening
I am new to straight razor shaving and I took a chance on this package. It was "sharp" out of the box and could cut paper well, but it did NOT have a shave ready edge which was cause for some extreme discomfort during my first shave. However, after 30 minutes with a Smith's sharpening kit and watching a few youtube videos I re-honed the edge and am now shaving with it routinely. I still cannot cut a "falling hair" with it but I have gotten very good comfortable shaves with it.Switching to straight razor shaving is already proving to be a big money saver and my neck skin is much healthier looking and devoid of bumps and irritation.I love the "beefy wood" handle. While I know it is heavy compared to some other razors, it gives me a sure grip even when wet and I feel confidant it won't fall to pieces in my hand as I pass the blade over my neck. This kit is a great way to take a step back in time, enjoy your morning routine, shave healthier, and stop wasting money on expensive blade refills that are destined to take up space in a landfill....

Not Your Granddad's Razor & Strop Combo
The razor was of high quality workmanship, however it wasn't even close to being sharp enough to shave with or sharp enough to be able to use the strop to finish the honing process. I have purchased pocket knives that were sharper. The initial edge will have to be professionally honed the first time before it can be used. Very disappointing. The strop is decently made, but small and light weight by the standards of a professional strop. It is to narrow and to short as well. It would be OK for packing up for an extended road trip and occasional use, but if you are expecting a long lasting and serviceable strop, for everyday use, this isn't the one to order.

I was kind of disappointed
I was kind of disappointed when I got my razor. It came with no instructions! the reason I point that out is, maybe if it had instructions it could warn people that it is not sharp and needs to be sharpened. the strop dose not sharpen it at all! I have to buy a stone or compound in order to sharpen it. I am very disappointed on the lack of information and that I now have to buy more things in order to even try to use it.The quality of the razor seems to be good. the steel and wood are nice.it has some weight on it and bigger that I thought it was going to be. I just cant us it till I get it sharpened.

pride cutlery combo
Better quality than expected! The strop still needs broke in but works rather well and the razer was of decent quality and came with a good edge though not shave ready. I would like to note that the hinge on the razor was rather tight though and the razer was heavy making it somewhat cumbersome to use

Inexpensive Product
Would recommend for the beginning straight razor user. Not pre sharpened, so you need to hone and sharpen with strop, its not the easiest thing for a beginner

Ehh...
Not the best strop and the razor is not shave ready not even kinda. A little on the heavy side though but totally doable.
