The Beginner's Guide to Gardening: Basic Techniques - Easy-to-Follow Methods - Earth-Friendly Practices

Just got it in the mail, looks like everything it was promised to be. Clear and easy to read, with great photos and instruction. Hoping this will help me with my lack of a green thumb this year.

I purchased this for my Grandson who is starting his first garden. He's found the book very helpful, he just posted a photo of his first flowers, grown from seed! Great book!

Helpful book

Good book for beginners. Has a variety of topics including a section specific to how to grow and care for roses and specialty gardens (for birds, butterflies, and water gardens) which I found useful. I also bought Beginner's Illustrated Guide to Gardening. Comparing the two, I think that the Beginner's Illustrated Guide is a little more helpful because of the formatting and the specific, actionable steps that it gives. The Beginner's Guide to Gardening (this book) tends to give more general principles, and often it recommends that you consult with your local nursery / experts for advice which is a little frustrating because I bought this book to try an avoid calling up other people with questions. Overall, I would recommend the Beginner's Illustrated Guide over this one, but this one was still helpful.

It's for the American Market!! Didn't realise when I purchased but only has map soil reference for USA and Canada!! What use is that in UK?? Even the insects aren't native to uk
