My main concern is that it wouldn't work with my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with the Otter Box, and straight out of the packaging, it didn't. The spread was sufficient but the sides of it are very short. The rubber pieces that grab the sides of the phone weren't far enough to the outer edge to grasp my case. I managed to pull them off and move them up to the upper edges of the sides and this modification has worked very well. I still have to be cognizant of insuring my phone seats properly but even though it seems like it's in there somewhat precariously, it never falls out. The mount does seem to gradually work it's way out of the cd player even with the largest insert but it takes a few weeks.I'm in my car and using this mount an average of 5 hours a day, six days a week so I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Mixed feelings & Review for this Product.The Pictures of this item look great online, it is another story once it comes in the mail, at least in my case. This product does work for some, and does not work for others. This item did not work for my PHONE or MY CAR, but it did work for my girlfriend's PHONE and with her CAR.For starts i bought this item for me and my new phone, a GALAXY S5 with a protective case included which triples my phones thickness but increases protection, and the pictures online look like they would fit a GALAXY S5 with easy, it does not with or without the case. With the case my phone was over sized for the mount both in thickness and width, it did fit but not very well. End result would be the phone would not HOLD in place while using it in the car mount. I also had an issue with the Car Mount not holding in place with my CD Player in my car, i own a 2012 Ford Focus, my CD player was a little to slim and prevented the Mount to fit inside the CD player all the way. End result was the mount would fall out of the CD player often, even while driving to and from work. Now this product to me turn out as a disaster & useless.However my girlfriend ended up using the Mount in my car a few times to listen to music, and it would hold her iPhone 5 with the base on perfectly, and still does. I ended up giving her this car mount, it fit perfectly in her CD player in her car, meaning it fit all the way & holds tight like it should. So i guess this item works for some of us, but not all of us. Depends on the CD player in your car, and it also depends on your phone size. If your phone is to skinny it will not hold or if it is to fat it will not hold. That is why this item got a rating of 3, cause for me it was a complete 0, and my girlfriend it ended up being a complete 5.

This holder grips my phone very well. I don't have a huge phone, (Moto G) but the case (Trident Aegis) is a bit bulky, so I was worried that it may not adequately hold the phone.The holder is very compact, which is something I was looking for because many of the CD slot holders are a bit bulky, or have tension screws that stick out. This holder isn't much larger than a lot of the air vent style holders.My only complaint about this holder is that it's a bit bouncy. So far, it doesn't seem in danger of falling out or dropping the phone, but I'm not sure how it will perform on a dirt road or a similarly bumpy surface. Or as the holder ages, will it no longer be able to hold the phone due to this bouncing? I guess only time will tell. I've put the additional grip provided on the CD slot clamp, intended for larger gaps, but as near as I can tell, it makes no difference at all. I've seen some holders that have a sort of kick-stand appendage sticking out from the bottom, presumably to halt this sort of bouncing. I think something like this would make this an excellent holder.I should probably state that the clamp does fit very snugly in the slot, and there is plenty of space above and below the slot, so the clamp is able to fit with the body of the clamp right up against slot. So the clamp isn't just partially in, which is causing the bounce. I think it's more a matter of the way the body of the clamp slopes away from the slot. I think if there was more material along the clamp face to rest against the slot, it would be less bouncy.I'm only subtracting a single star for the bounciness, because as I said, at the moment, the clamp does hold the phone solidly, even with the bounce.
