This pygeum is pretty good. It's fresh with a slightly sweet/cinnamon taste that isn't offensive, and can be made into a tea or mixed into cereal, yogurt or smoothie. However, I've been eating organic for most of my life and can't remember the last time I had any processed foods, so my taste buds are probably different from the average person - I enjoy a lot of bitter and earthy tastes that others find unpleasant or offensive, so I should probably mention that. This herb certainly doesn't taste like candy, that's for sure. But I personally enjoy the taste.It does good things for my hair (keeps it from falling out, and promotes regrowth) and I have better hair texture and scalp feel when I use it. However, I'm using it in a mix of other herbs like nettle root, saw palmetto, horsetail grass, gotu kola, ginseng, pumkin seeds, and brazil nuts, so I can't say this stands alone.I am removing one star, only because I found out that the pygeum tree is rapidly on it's way to extinction because of overharvesting. It's not cultivated, it's taken from the wild, and the trees are dying because of it. So most likely, I won't use it again, as although it's a good addition, I don't feel that it's imperative to my herbal hair recipe.UPDATE: Although I did not before, I do now feel like it's important to my herbal hair recipe - it might be my imagination, but I notice more hair in my brush since I stopped adding it to the mix, so I'm going to start putting it in again. I have mixed feelings about this, since the pygeum tree is being overharvested, but I am going to start using it again.

No proof this works
The product arrived in good shape if not speedily. I'd been using this pygeum bark (1/2 teasp daily) for about a month for gout prevention when I suffered a gout attack. Seeking pain relief, I had to turn to black cherry juice which cut my foot pain in half within minutes. So, either pygeum bark is overrated as a gout treatment or this brand is very weak. I've doubled my daily dosage to a full teaspoon daily, hoping for a better prevention.
