Simple But Brilliant
For beginners, Cep breaks down music writing concepts into nifty, manageable bites. For those who are intermediate but self-taught, he explains the components of melody writing in broader terms than I’ve ever understood. I had a couple of a-ha moments that were very exciting (like, the value of harmony and why you need to make it interesting—it’s not just a necessary add-on!). While applying the concepts I immediately broadened my approach to songwriting. I’m very inspired to apply Cep’s techniques as I go forward. Thank you.

A good place to start using a DAW
If you create music with a DAW there are good tips to create midi based patterns. Very simple steps that you can implement while reading this book.

Great book, would recommend to people who have been producing music for 0-4 years
I took the plunge and bought this book after 4 years of mostly self taught music theory. This was made up of hours and hours of youtube videos, documents and music theory sites. One thing I learned was that all the information I took in was hard to digest and understand. The most important point is I never knew what was good or bad information. This book has all the good information you need to kick-start making simple melodies. It also gives you various ideas on how you can advance your melodies. The example used is an EDM melody but you can apply the theory to produce any type of simple melody for any genre. Remember you need to practice and learn by doing over and over.I read this book more of a How To Guide more than anything. It was very simple to follow and is written in a step by step format explaining what is going on and why.Admittedly, there were parts of the book I found confusing, however English is not the authors’ primary language. The author is Dutch. Having said that, it was only a few sentences here and there. Overall it’s a well written book in very good English. For me personally, the book glued all the good information I have ingested over the years and provided clarity. If I had started completely cold in music theory and bought this book, my review may be different. The book is also written in such a way that the author really connects with you. It’s almost as if the author is there with you, brilliant!Improvement wise, it would have been a lot better if the images were bigger so that I could see the piano keys a lot better. It’s not too bad, but when you reading text, you want to relate text to image as quickly as possible.I would have also liked the book to reference the images. At times I got confused what image the author was talking about.Price wise, at around 30.35 GBP, I found it honestly a little expensive given the content of the book. However, since I purchased it paperback, I can understand why it costs this much. I wouldn’t have mentioned the price if the book went into more detail on how to create melodies for specific EDM genres.Hope my review helps someone!

This Book Goes Further And Beyond How To Make Melodies
This is a very interesting book and tells you about music theory. It will bring the natural music out of you that you may never have known was there. It's straight forward and thorough at the same time. It's one of the best music books I have ever owned.I really highly recommend this book for sure. It's great for those who want to write their own music. It shows you how to make melodies the fun way. It explains so much. It gets to the gist of what you need without taking an expensive course. My thanks goes out to the writer. I love it!
