CR-L98 LED Mega Lantern Using 6V Battery, 200 lm, High Visibility Mega Spotlight/LED Flashlight/Carriage Lantern, 3W, Orange

This is one KICK ASS 6-volt lantern. I already owned a couple of 6-volt lanterns similar to this (but made by a domestic company here). I thought those 6-volt lanterns were pretty good until I received this one and used it. OMG!!! There is no comparison between the two. This lantern blows everything else completely away. Upon initial inspection/use, this lantern appears to be a quality product that's built for years of rugged use. And l really like the fact that it uses a single LED, instead of the standard krypton bulb that you get with everything else. So if you want the real "big daddy" of all 6-volt lanterns, then this baby is definitely the lantern for you. There's nothing the competition has that can even come close. It's definitely worth the wait (about 4 weeks) for it to be shipped from the vendor in Korea after you order it.

I've never before been so disappointed in an Amazon purchase. I would have been disappointed in this flashlight had I paid only a dollar for it. It arrived with three pieces and no instructions about how to install the lamp assembly into the plastic housing. But, only three pieces, how could I go wrong? After installing the battery, I used trial and error to establish an electrical connection. Eventually I found one position that would reliably turn on and off with the push-switch in the housing, but the lamp still fades and flares bright erratically. I'm going shopping for something to replace this immediately. It appeared cheaply made when delivered, and proved undependable in performance.

Case is a little thin , may crack if dropped hard. Beam of light very good, very bright and long distance.

Mixed bag for me. First the good, it is bright! Scaldingly bright. If you accidently look straight at it it will leave an afterimage as though you had stared at the sun.And now the bad, although it is *bright*, it is that pale ghostly blue light, and that means it doesn't *illuminate* all that well, especially at distances of 50+ feet. As far as actually seeing, I am better off using my Lumilite http://www.amazon.com/Lumilite-4650-Industrial-Krypton-Lantern/dp/B004S7YEKI which has a more natural light that illuminates better, in spite of not being technically as bright. Not only that, it is 6 dollars cheaper AND it comes with an adaptor to use 4 "D" cells rather than a lantern battery. It has this lines etched across the reflector that leaves shadowed line and black patches that doesn't gives a clear field of illumination. Nothing great about this feature nor the item itself.

VERY pleased with this purchase. The flashlight comes in a bright orange color to stand out. It is well constructed. The lens/LED/battery contacts are assembled in one unit. It appears to be sealed, but I'm not certain. That goes into the light housing ring to hold it onto the flashlight and against the battery. The battery contacts are designed to allow the six volt battery to just be placed into the flashlight. As long as the contacts on the battery are pointed out of the flashlight body, toward the front, you should be good to go. The flashlight includes a lanyard to help keep it secure, even if you drop it. For a clumsy should like me that's a big plus. The light itself is BRIGHT! The light stays focused for a ridiculously long distance. Much farther than I require. Overall, I'm very happy with this flashlight.

Have had this flashlight for a year and a half, but probably only used it fewer than 12 times. Last couple times, the light doesn't come on unless I play with the screw on piece with the light. Today it doesn't come on at all. One buys a flashlight like this to use, especially in emergencies. Utterly useless to have it stop working with such little use. I don't think I can return it, but I'm going to look into it.
