Good ideas and info on updating the VW bus

Do not buy this, it is terrible. The modifications included are shody to say the least e.g " fit a thick wire between the positive terminal on the alternater....." Wow! no mention of the ampage the wire needs to be, to thin and you could start a fire! The worst thing about this book is the fact that the modifications that most people would do are not included; Lowering of the bus, adding twin carbs, break upgrades (to disc brakes,) engine upgrades, (heads and cylinders.) Also on safety he suggests that when fitting seatbelts in the rear that you just bolt them in place, no need to weld here! Please do not line this man's pockets, at best he will be rich, at worst your van will catch fire, the rear passengers will be hurt in a crash and all the other things that could go wrong if you do as he suggests in this book. Please, please, please do not buy this book. I could go on and quote some more dangerous/poor modifications but I think, no hope, I have said enough!P.S I would not even sell this book to another person just incase there is an acident due to this incompetent fellow's book. So I am of to the re-cycling it goes, (torn up so no-one else can use it.)

I don't enjoy writing negative reviews and am not really sure what I expected from this book, however I can honestly say I was in no way inspired. By 'modifications' I was hopeful I might be shown many clever and useful upgrades or enhancements but instead it was mainly things like windscreen replacement and changing fuel lines..... all important topics don't get me wrong but is this not general maintenance?If you already have the likes of a Haynes or Bentley manual and some common sense, save your money as this does not really add very much.

Very useful guide to possible options for upgrading your vehicle, including a few you might not have even considered. Well written with clear instruction.
