Please remember the dimension and size refers to your chimney size, NOT Chimney Balloon size. This Chimney Balloon will not work on a chimney hole larger than 36"X15". The Chimney Balloon inflates tightly in the fireplace flue for an energy saving seal that stops drafts, stops chimney odors, stops noise through the chimney.

Would recommend it.
Recommended to purchase even though I had sealed fireplace doors. If you looked at the door seals you could see dust had collected at the seams indicating a draw up through the chimney. The only draw back was you had to inflate the balloon by breath. I would never had enough air to blow this balloon up, it is BIG. Luckily I had a hand pump to inflate. Be careful you do not have any sharp edges inside the chimney as when you inflate any sharp edges will puncture the balloon because it is tight fitting. I thoroughly cleaned mine.

Absolute garbage
This is nothing but a $55 oversized ziploc bag. It is nearly impossible to insert into the damper, and if by chance you can get it in, the valve is way too short to inflate the balloon. So I bought the $15 extension which is also completely useless. It attaches by a small piece of rubber tubing that provides no support and falls out before you can begin to inflate. If you still feel the urge to try this product after reading this, I suggest you pay someone $10 to dump a bucket of ashes on you and hand you a crumpled up garbage bag. The experience will be the same but you will have saved $45.

Somewhat overpriced
a little overpriced. Should cost about 1/2 the price that it is priced at. Loses some air so that it has to be reinflated each day. Not losing it through the valve. Must be through the bag

Effective solution, cleverly designed
We purchased this as a solution for our 100+ year old home that has no flue. The solution worked well for some time, but eventually the balloon must have punctured in an undetermined way. In any case, the customer service for this product is great, and they replaced the balloon at no charge. (It was less than a year since the first purchase). As long as you're gentle with the installation and removal (when you light a fire), then I think this is an elegant way to solve the problem.PS, we live in FL so extreme cold isn't an issue

Chimney Ballon Fireplace Damper
This was a gift and my friend really like it. It was simple to install and helped to keep the house warmer.

Overpriced garbage bag with a hose.
I bought this for my fireplace last fall to save on a/c costs. I got about 3 uses out of it before it started developing holes. So many in fact duct taping them will not even keep it inflated anymore. Speaking of which it doesn't even come with an inflator. You have to use lung power which is unacceptable for the price. The plastic itself is transparent total garbage. No thicker than a sandwich bag. You even need to be careful where you lay it lest an animal or child would ever get hold of it. I can't believe I burnt $50+ on a bag with a plastic tube, and some rubber bands. Two words: "STEER CLEAR!"

Overall I'm very happy with the performance
It did exactly what I needed it to do. Getting it up in past the damper was a challenge and had to deflate it twice to get it to open correctly. At one point it pushed the dampener closed on my hand so I probably should have placed it a little higher. Once it was in place I really didn't want to move it. Overall I'm very happy with the performance. I think it's made a noticeable improvement over last winter. No more drafts in the fireplace room and no more suddenly smelling smoke in the house.

It may may if you can get it seals, but not sure the durability
I bought 3 for my 3 fireplaces for the energy auditing and to get some tax credit. The S&H was $22.44 for 3 balloons shipped priority mail. So called low-melting/flash point plastics means cheap plactics: it ressembles the plastics for a zipper bag. I was afraid that rough chimney walls would puncture the balloons, fortunately it did not happen. It is not easy at all to place the balloons: for one fireplace, the provided tubing was too short because the proper spot for the balloon was high. All my chimneys are either square or rentangular in shape, yet the chimney balloons are kind round in the corners. I had leaking around 4 corners while a whole house blow test by the energy auditor, I had tucked some tape and paper to corners to stop leaks. One balloon fell off at the end of the blow test despite I tucked some paper and tape around the corner. The reminder (Remove chimney balloon before using fireplace) is a tiny useless piece plastics (not a tape or adhesive on the back), I am not sure where I can place it so it would remind me. Since I just got them, I can not tell if they will save me some utility bills.Pro: It may works if you can place it with good seals all way around, and may serve purpose for getting some tax credits.Con: Expensive (even $15 would be too expensive), cheaply made, cheap materials, questionable durability, no energy saving certificate (so the purchase does not quarlify for any tax credits)
