Warm Your Heart

I bought the album because I had heard Aaron Neville sing Ave Maria at a concert...it was so beautiful. I came to enjoy the other tracks, many of which were new to me. I also learned a bit of history, about the 1927 flood in Louisiana, during which Pres. Coolidge came to see the area for himself. I also learned about Angola Prison in the state, called the Alcatraz of the South.

I love every genre of music... from rock, classic, rap, country.... and this is my all time favorite CD by my all time favorite singer. Aaron Neville's voice is an instrument in itself, and the diverse lyrics and selections on this CD are amazing. I especially love Aaron's nod to his Catholic roots in the most beautiful version of "Ava Maria" on the planet. He is a divine storyteller, and Louisiana 1927 and Angola Bound are spellbinding tales of hurricanes and hard times. "I Bid You Goodnight"....(I loved you, but Jesus loves you best) is both heart wrenching and comforting at the same time. My personal favorite - "Feels like Rain" is THE MOST amazing, romantic song ever written. I highly recommend this CD. 10 stars. My 80 year old parent's love it too.

There are very few albums that you can put in your CD/Spotify/MP3 player, and don't need to skip any tracks. This is one of those rare occurences. It all begins with a great cover of Randy Newman's, "Louisiana 1927", goes directly into the song that put him on the musical map, "Everybody Plays the Fool", and rounds out one of the best first 3-song cycles with John Hiatt's, "Feels Like Rain". "Somewhere, Somebody" is a yearning song with a mid to upbeat tempo; "Don't Go Please Stay" gives Aaron a chance to let his angelic voice take front stage; "With You in Mind" and "That's the Way She Loves" are - in my opinion - the weakest tracks but not worth lifting the remote to skip track. "Angola Bound" unites Aaron and his brothers for a great song about a bad subject; "Close Your Eyes" is a good duet with Linda Ronstadt; "La Vie Dansante" is a rhythmic sing-a-long cover of Jimmy Buffet. The last three songs actually outdo all the rest: "Warm Your Heart" has a distinctly New Orleans flare to it; "I Bid You Goodnight" is an uplifting piece of gospel music and "Ave Maria" shows Aaron could just about become an opera man. Absolutely fantastic, give it a spin on your chosen medium of music playing; no disappointment to be found.

If someone was looking to "try out" a Neville CD or if you are looking for a gift, this would be the CD to get. I purchased several of his and this is my favorite. It has "Louisiana 1927" on it - very important! This is what he sang for the Katrina benefit and what a performance! Written by Randy Newman (did not know that) and just a classic. Such a unique voice. I love to hear him do Gospel or Christmas songs and - well, anything actually. Listening to his stuff makes me want to order that King Cake early!

Classic songs covered by the master

Aaron at his best! Some of these pieces are rather cloyingly sweet (the "Ave Maria" on the last track). But some of them are just little gems! Highlights are: "Louisiana 1927," "It Feels Like Rain," the title track "Warm Your Heart," and -- especially -- "I Bid You Good Night." That last one all by itself is worth the price of the album!

A great album by one of the most unique singers around. Linda Ronstadt produced and arranged a portion of this album, so look for her influence and guest vocals on some of the tracks. This album is a real joy to listen to.

I just "discovered" Aaron Neville and wish I had found him sooner! His voice is so. . . . . melodious, soft, different, and sweet! I have fallen in love with: I Bid You Goodnight. I have probably listened to it thirty times already!

This man is magic and I am VERY old

I got this after the film " ALIVE " virtually every song on this album is great. It's ideal for background music for a romantic evening or just having friends around.

What a beautiful voice. One cannot fault his talent.

Neville's 'Devotion' album I have never heard bettered !
