Deluxe Spring Bombilla with cleaning brush

The bombilla works but not as well as I had hoped. It looks exactly as pictured. However, the description is a "spring" bombilla which led me to believe there is a metal spring involved. From the picture I had guessed there was a small spring inside since it looked like there was no spring on the outside. Well, there is absolutely NO spring at all.I was looking for a bombilla with a spring because I figured that a spring would have such thin gaps between the metal that it would be better at filtering finely cut yerba mate leaves than the "spoon" style bombilla I already owned AND be easier to clean. This one is easier to clean since the bottom has a screw cap and the drinking end has a larger opening and it comes with a reusable cleaning brush. However, the openings are slits that are a bit larger than I hoped for and can allow bits of yerba (or tea leaves) through, especially finer-cut bits.I'm keeping the bombilla (actually I ordered 2) because it works and is easy to clean. Had I known before-hand that it had no spring I may not have ordered it at all. If you are considering purchasing this bombilla, beware that it is NOT a spring bombilla. It does filter adequately, but not as well as I expected. I found a cheap or "free" solution that works for me. If I wrap a short length of unflavored waxed dental floss once through each of the three layers of slits on the end of the bombilla, it adds an additional layer of filtering but not so much to cause clogging. This step is not necessary, but for anyone that might have this or a similar bombilla or be considering purchasing it I thought this information might be helpful.UPDATE: I almost never use this bombilla because I have others that work so much better. A couple of things I have come to realize about this one over time are that 1) it is longer than a lot of the other ones out there so it might -- emphasis on might -- be a better choice for larger gourds and 2) the dental floss filter modification I mentioned before works under some circumstances but works less well (or even terribly) under others. It mostly depends on the yerba mate (or tea leaf if used with tea) cut on whether this bombilla + floss will clog or not. I recently purchased the  Del Rey Limited Edition Spring Bombilla  and it works much better than this one. The only drawbacks to that one are that 1) it is shorter in length (may be preferred with a smaller gourd), 2) it has more parts to lose if not careful when cleaning (the only small part of "Deluxe Spring" is the small end cap), 3) it is a bit more expensive, and 4) it does not come with a cleaning brush. The Del Rey Limited one is only a bit more complicated to clean. Just be careful not to lose any parts (such as down the drain) while cleaning either bombilla.

Great product the one I had though I just couldnt unscrew it was jammed I even tried with a wrench. I really love it though

I've been a daily mate drinker for a about 6 years now and have gone through numerous bombillas. This one is, for the price, the best one I"ve used, surpassed only by a much more expensive bombilla I bought in Uruguay and haven't found anywhere online since. This bombilla feels solid and well made, it is shipped with care and you can tell that the company that makes it has invested some time in to thinking about the design and presentation. Drinking mate with the bombilla is great. The openings are of sufficient size to allow the tea to pass through easily, but small enough to keep out fragments. It rarely clogs up and, as it should, allows you to just sip mate without thinking about how the bombilla is or isn't working well. The cleaner it comes with is also a nice touch. Highly recommended.

Bombill does not work well, and why would you need a brush. WAY OVER PRICED as well

I don't post reviews very often but this product deserves it. I have been drinking yerba mate almost daily since 2007 and been through about 10 bombillas. This is by far the best bombilla I have ever owned.First and most importantly, this bombilla does not clog easily. However, it does clog occasionally. The great thing is they include a cleaning tool that removes yerba clogged in the bombilla in about 30 seconds. Genius idea–I haven't seen anyone else doing this.Second, the materials are top-notch. I'm not sure what type of metal is used, but it's a very solid bombilla. This is important to me because I have broken 4–5 bombillas in the past.If I could give this bomilla more stars I would. It's well worth the price.

Used it twice so far but feel confident enough to write a shining review. The metal is solid and the brass is neatly done, doesn't look cheap or glued or anything like that. The cleaning brush is a little stiff but that's fine. The slits seem to be the perfect size - large enough to not get clogged but small enough to keep out almost all leaf pieces. Be sure to flush it out before using, as there are bits of metal from the carving - but that's normal. Great piece!! Worth paying a little extra, I expect it to last years.

After returning home from an 18 month stay in South America I found it really difficult to find a quality bombilla for my yerba mate. I was excited to try this one and give it a great review.The bombilla is smooth and doesn't let any stray tea pass thru. Seller is prompt and very helpful. After I stupidly lost a piece of mine down the drain, he replaced it at no cost to me. Great product from a great seller!

Tried different ones (with springs) and they always got plugged, this bombilla was perfect, no plugging with dusty hierva mate.
