A great value - High Quality
We've used it for one gig so far.... 99% positive. One change I'd like (later).Shipped from Amazon warehouse. I am a prime member, and even at 40 lbs and a very large 5+ft box, this thing was delivered NEXT DAY for the small $3.99 next-day fee!!Box was in great shape. Shipped UPS. No visible damage. Inside, only problem was a cracked knob.Assembly was very fast. Really no problems with things lining up. Getting the pins in was a little tricky, but realized that with a 10ft truss it puts weight on things and throws the alignment off. I actually built this the first time by myself at the house, only needing a family member to help for 60 seconds to alight the truss into the holes. The unit itself... I think the construction is very solid, very thick. This is not a thin umbrella shaft that some reviews had me worried about. A great balance between being strong enough to last, but light enough to move around.I was also impressed by the hardware. yes the connectors are plastic, but its very hard plastic and very positionable. I didn't expect the double vert. extensions and heavy duty connectors. Pins to lock things in. Extra hardware to reinforce (although unless really loading up, I wont use. Make your own decisions)For the one gig, because of layout positioned it behind the drummer. The truss became a great spot to hang the band banner. I then put a couple dance lights on the truss. For our next show (next week), we are going to try putting in front of the drummer (no banner), but behind the frontline guys... We picked up some PAR38s, and using the truss and lighting poles going to try lighting the band.Which leads me to the one downside. Even in small bars, if you have 3 guys up front (Guitar, Singer, Bass), 10ft is not wide enough to have this set up out front, with the idea of shining light onto the band from overhead..And for this particular model, the manufacturer will not sell a separate 5ft extension truss to take it to 15ft (which would be perfect). I saw mention on the internet where someone bought two of these and pieced together a 15ft truss and they said it works fine. I believe other models support adding extensions. But I realized before buying that 10ft was tight for up front, so I still hold at 5 stars. So I'll confuse you by saying after all that, it is impressive to see this thing set up... that its size makes people think "Wow, these guys have their stuff together!".So our set-up now is:From amazon we bought this and 4 par38 lights American DJ PAR-38B Can Buy Two and Save , colored gels and the carrying case for about $250. Throw on a sound-activated party light that we already had (and positioned near the bass amp), and we have a great lighting set-up that none of the local cover band bar small bar hopping bands have.Oh.. even the carrying case is good quality build. A little tricky to get the trusses in at first but everything fits surprisingly well. On Stage LSB-6500 Lighting Truss Carry Bag

Amazing Deal!
I purchased this lighting truss for use with my mobile DJ system, and it's awesome! for the money I spent, I now have one of the best looking DJ Setups in my area, and the jobs keep getting better and better, because of how professional everything looks. I used to have all of my lights on a single T Stand, top and bottom, and that was fine but I wanted something to be able to spread my lights out a little more, and get better dance floor coverage. This lighting truss definitely did the trick. The stands, and truss are VERY solid, and everything goes together easily. I've put this together by myself before, and then had a partner help me raise it to full height, and it was no problem. It seems to hold all of my lights with no issue, and I'm looking forward to adding more lighting systems to my show. The other thing this truss helps me with is advertising. I have a 3ft by 6ft banner with my logo, and information on for exhibitions, and parties, and now I can actually hang my banner up under my lighting system on the truss. Definitely a good buy to add a professional, solid, look to your mobile DJ Setup.

good system, HORRIBLE SHIPPING!!!!
The truss work itself is amazingly stong and capable considering it is so thin, and does not have welded cross-members. It's very easy to set up and take down, and even has a number of safety features that you don't find on many "better" quality trus systems, such as pin-lock backups to prevent it from coming down. One thing it does need is stops inside the vertical supports. It is possible that when you are lifting the truss up (loaded with lights), you can pull the tube right out of the tripod stand, which might be a bit awkward if unexpected. Thankfully we didn't have much weight on it when this happened. For small performances, mobile DJs, presentations, trade shows, and other miscellaneous infrequent use, or for light-weight use to hang banners and small lights, this is a very durable, easy to use system. However it is definitely NOT designed for heavy use. The spec says it's rated for 200 pounds, which it seems would be about the max I'd trust it for... and that weight must be evenly distributed.Shipping was an entirely different story! The box was so damaged and wrecked that it had more tape than cardboard on it. There were holes all over it, one end cap was held on entirely by tape because it had been ripped off. All of the tubes were damaged in some way. Most are heavily scratched or gouged, several were bent or kinked at the ends. Many loose pieces thrown into the box, and the protective plastic bags were all discheveled and halfway off the pieces. It is BLATANTLY obvious that this box was dropped, probably broke completely open, and was thrown back together with a half a roll of shipping tape. I was very disappointed to receive the unit so badly damaged, as we had ordered this to be delivered on a Friday when we needed it for a show on Saturday. I'm just glad the room was dark so nobody could see how badly scratched up it is! Really bummed to have received it like that, I was going to keep it for other things here and there, but since it's so badly damaged, it's going back. The outer box is NOT designed or padded for shipping by consumer carriers. This box is designed only to be shipped on a pallet full of like items and shrink-wrapped for protection.

Good product spoiled by cheap hardware.
About a year after purchase, about half of the bolts have stripped out due to poor quality Chinese steel. Other than that it's holding up fine, but that one problem makes it unsafe to use anywhere people will be under it. Next time I'll buy the American DJ minitruss.
