Christopher Grey is a great teacher. His examples give specific setups that can be used as described, but the reader is encouraged to modify, extend, and blend them through understanding why they work. This is a book about understanding lighting, it is not a cookbook.

it's still possible to be creative and take good pictures without much extra equipment
Mostly I learned that I need to spend a lot of money on lights and a studio with sets and seamless, none of which is likely. But it is interesting. It also convinced me that while it may not look professional, it's still possible to be creative and take good pictures without much extra equipment.

Yet another excellent book from Mr. Grey!
Christopher Grey's Lighting Techniques for Beauty and Glamour Photography: A Guide for Digital Photographers As with most of Mr. Grey's books I instantly found information that was of immeasureable help to me. While all of the chapters in this book are informative the chapter on 'green screen' photography was a big help to me. I have been struggling with lighting my green screen for sometime and this chapter really helped.I love the authors writing style and the marvelous examples make it even easier to understand his instructions. This book is a must for all beginners and intermediate photographers.

Informative
This is a good reference for beginners or persons new to indoor/studio photography. For those with experience, there are probably more informative books however.

Know the light...
Really a great book: it is about brains, not necessarily money!

Take a giant step in your growth as a studio photographer
"Advanced Lighting Techniques, Tricks of the Trade for Digital Photographers" is an essential tool for photographers looking to achieve what they now just dream about. All photographers want their work to clearly distinguish us from our competition. Any one of the twenty five chapters could provide the tool to do this and alone would be worth the price of admission. I highly recommend this latest book from Christopher Grey. If you are just starting out or have not read his earlier books, check out: Master Lighting Guide for Portrait Photographers or Christopher Grey's Studio Lighting Techniques for Photography: Tricks of the Trade for Professional Digital Photographers

It's a Christopher Grey book, so I had to have it
I have all the available Christopher Grey books and find his teaching style very accessible and imformative. He also did a couple of classes on Craftsy-com (now bluprint) and they were also good. I think that for the relatively small cost of a book that there are always worthwhile lessons to be learned from this and all his books.

Only ok
When I received this book and flipped quickly through it I felt very uninspired and unimpressed with the quality of the photographs and content. I have since purchased Scott Kelby's "light it shoot it, retouch it" so The lighting techniques for beauty & glamour has been put aside for now

Average
It should be OK to understand the basic of lighting; but there are more books out there should provide a better detailed information.

Very nice book.
I have read other books on lighting. But Mr. Grey does the best job. I do not take time to give reviews. But since i have his other books on lighting as well I think he definitely deserves this. I love his creative styles and ideas. And i like the humor once in a while. Keep it up Mr. Grey. Thanks
