This affordable switch FINALLY solved my intermittent Service 4WD issue.
This switch FINALLY solved my intermittent “Service 4WD” error. This is a common problem with many GMC trucks (mine is a 2003 Sierra). The most interesting thing about this issue for me is that prior to buying this replacement switch, I took the ORIGINAL switch out and completely ohm tested it with a meter according to the manual and all ohm readings were perfectly in spec. And yet, every day (and usually several times a day) the Service 4WD light would eventually (but consistently) come on and STAY on until I turned the truck off and restarted it. It also sometimes wouldn’t switch between 4 and 2WD. I also previously tried cleaning and testing all the relevant chassis grounds (also a common cause of this issue) and they were all perfect. With the original switch and the grounds testing good, I was still reluctant (ok, lazy) to jump into the more involved resolutions. Meaning, there are obviously several other expensive, harder to service 4WD electronic/mechanical components that could have been the source of my issue, but I thought, even though my original switch ohm tested perfectly, for VERY short money I might as well take a shot at replacing this switch as it’s the cheapest/easiest (read as lazy long shot) possible resolution. And it worked! For the first time in a year, its been fine for several days and several hundred miles. I’m 100% sure this was the cause of my issue. Lastly, this may not be the most expensive version of this switch on Amazon but it worked perfectly. So I’m glad I didn’t spend the extra money on a more expensive (and likely identical), so-called “new and improved” version of this switch at 2-4 times the cost. Also, after taking apart the old switch and inspecting it, it’s not hard to see why moisture and typical use could cause intermittent failure. Mine had an almost varnish-like contamination on some of the internal contacts and just for kicks I tried cleaning them the iso-alcohol. That didn’t seem to clean them much at all.

Perfect fit for 2006 Yukon slt 1500
Perfect fit and worked on my 2006 Yukon 1500 slt. Will update if/when it fails. The buttons look and feel brand new which leads me to believe it's an entirely new unit. The lights all work. Shipping was super fast. It cost me $15 as opposed to $97.99 at my local parts store. As of writing this review I'm coming up on winter so hopefully this solves all my problems.Installation took all of 5 minutes and that's only because I did it in the dark. Just pull the bezel off the console. You have to lower the steering wheel all the way and put the gear shifter down all the way to completely remove it. Put the emergency break on. Next, there are a couple tabs you must lift slightly to pull the old unit out. It's possible to do this whole thing without tools but I used some picks I had lying around. Next, unplug the two connectors. Then plug the new unit in to the connecters, push it into the dash, push the bezel back on, and done.

Exactly as described and works perfect
Dead on exactly as stated. Took the whole of 5 min to replace. Only requires a flat blade screwdriver or a pocket knife to release the wiring connectors. Immediately solved my issue of erratic shift from “auto” to 4-hi. Save a ton of money and get this one and you won’t go wrong

This product doesn't work!
I've ordered this product two times now and both parts came broken! The lights won't work on the switch, and the switch doesn't do anything! There is no option for me to return the second part that does not work...everytime I click to return the second item, it says I've already done so. I want my money back for both parts, not just the first one I ordered! I'd really just like to have the product, I need it for my truck to work! Anyone gonna figure this out?

Part went bad after a few months, seller made it right
Editing review, after writing to seller about not being able to use warranty on defective part they responded very fast and issued a refund. So while I was not impressed with the part, I was satisfied with the customer service and would be willing to give this seller another chance as I understand parts are just that at times....defective, and at least I know they will make things right.

It seems cheap but works great and quality isn't a problem
Well it was a cheap fix I guess. My service 4wd light kept going on and it wouldn't shift out of 2wd to 4x4. At first I thought it was the electric transfer case motor. But this was a cheap guess to start with. It solved my problem and now everything works again.

Easy install and works for one month, then stopped working.
This replacement fixed the 4 wheel warning issue I was having with my 2004 Silverado. This is the 2nd time I had to replace the original switch since the truck was new. This switch is poorly made since it only lasted a month. Would not recommend.
