Simple yet versatile and intuitive to the max, modern in decor and custom fit for your iPad 2, 3 & 4 Retina; This is the Ultimate Case with built-in Rear Tripod Mount Adapter. Just simply place your iPad into the metal frame and close the hinged cover and lock it with the key. It boast a black powder coated finish with shiny 33 degree bezels on the inner portion of the case. We carried that same look along into the home button bezel and the front side camera hole bezel. This gives it a very nice touch, that we think you will come to find attractive. We added soft rubber padding to the interior frame for the ultimate protection while the iPad is resting in the case. This prevents any damage or scratches that could ever occur. For security reasons we also added a keyed locking mechanism to prevent your iPad from ever coming out of the case and/or easily being stolen if you were walk away from it. There's a 1/4-20 female threaded hole on the back side that beautifully blends into the rear of the case. This provides you with a rock solid connection between your tripod and the mount. No shaky videos, no blurring photos and NO cheap plastic. Easily mounted onto ANY Standard Tripod, Light Stand, Camera Tripod or basically any tripod accessory that uses 1/4-20 threads. It works, but NOT a perfect fit...
Works great all around except I had to use double stick tape to secure the iPad in place. It is a generic "one size fits all" type of situation so it isn't a perfect fit

Nice product but seeks clunky.
Just got this and while it is nice, seems a little clunky and I also thought this would Snap in my tripod rather than have to be screwed in as it does not come with the adapter she for camera/video tripods.

Exactly as advertised
Great product! Solid. I use it on my tripod also bought the lense kit that fits the case. The iPad fits snugly in the case. Hooks up to a tripod easily. Looks nice. I like it

Not quite up to par
The lock is an expensive and inconvenient overkill, a simple latch would do.The position of the tripod mount is virtually useless, even with a sophisticated full range tripod head it is difficult to point in the right direction, the body of the unit gets in the way.The mount could use some significant padding to keep from spinning, I had to cut a square of scrap leather for it.The "standard" lens thread isn't. I have a camera bag full of "standard" auxiliary lenses I've collected over the years for my various P&S digital cameras and none of them fit, now I need to buy new auxiliary lenses. At the very least the actual thread size should be published in the technical specifications but I could not find it.On the plus side it is sturdily built of metal.

Solid case...but skip the key in a redesign
I got this case to use only when using my iPad to film, which isn't often. The case is great for keeping the iPad safe, but I gave only 3 stars because:1. Why use a key?!? I loose the key and now I'm really in a bad spot. Poor design choice. (There's no little pocket to keep it in, etc. Even that would be an improvement.)2. The bump out where the locking mechanism is housed makes it challenging to screw the iPad onto the tripod. Not impossible, but definitely awkward.3. There's no padding or buffer of any kind in the case, so it's metal on metal. Yuck. I'd prefer a bit of a cushion, similar to what I have on my phone: hard case, but a cushioning layer in case it's dropped.

it can easily be opened without it
OK device, but a little clunky, the lock shouldn't on there, it can easily be opened without it, if you don't mind snapping it off.
