V/H/S [DVD]

I have to say that its been a good while since I have seen a truly scary, macabre, and wonderfully written horror film. V/H/S/ is about a group of hoodlums taping their acts of depravacy on women, destroying property, and one main job that sets the film in motion. They are contracted by a mysterious person that wants them to do a job for him. And their doomed task is to break into a house in the outskirts of town and steal a vhs tape for him. But little do they know this tape is nothing as expected it is a tape of five short but grueling point of view scenes. The first film called Amateur Night is probably the best in the movie but really I love four of the five scenes. Amateur Night is about 3 guys going out to clubs to find some women and one of the fellas has spy cam glasses on to film the guys cherades and end up picking up 2 women to bring back to their hotel room to film them having sex with the two girls but one of the girls is one wicked demon vampire maneater. thats all I am saying of the first scene. The second scene titled 2 honeymoons has one of the best twists I have scene in a while, where a newly married couple are traveling to their last spot on the trip in the midwest. They get a room for a couple of nights and a mysterious women that asks for their help turns out to be more than one had bargained for. Now, for the 3rd scene titled Tuesday the 17th a group of 4 young adults go to a swimming pond in the woods are hunted down viciously by a sadistic murderer that had killed 4 other youngsters in the past. This one is very violent but a one of a kind slasher short film. The 4th scene and I am sorry but cannot remember the title now to it, is about a women is being haunted by something in her newly rented abode. The whole scene is the woman talking by webcam with her boyfriend and lets him help her try to find out what they want and try to get her through each horrifying incedent. But, are they ghosts or something else. This scene is my least favorite but it is still very unique and very watchable. The fifth and final scene is titled 10/30/98 and is about four friends going to a halloween party. But when they arrive at their destination are they at the right spot and why is the house totally empty except a few apparitions very quickly seen on the camera they bring with them. But they finally find the party and all hell breaks loose literally. The hoodlums at the beginning of the film that finds the tape has a pretty neat twist. Will they get out with their tape and score some good money or is their fate doomed. You will just have to watch to find out. The title to the hoodlums scene is titled Tape #53. O.K. now about what I think about it is this is one of the best scary films I have seen in a while, well at least in the past 2 to 5 years. Each story has a different crew workig on it not to mention some directors that are going to frighten for for a long time. Most of the stories are very violent in one way or another, and 3 of the 5 are some of the best and truly shocking endings you will never ever see coming. It is about time a horror film has come out in the 21st century that will gice nightmares. Sweet dreams ladies and gents.

V/H/S is kind of like "Creepshow" meets "The Blair Witch Project" and IMHO it works out pretty well. Our main story (and set up from which to tell the rest of the stories) centers around four no-good wannabe punks. They spend their days committing juvenille crimes like vandalizing private property and terrorizing women. We feel little sympathy for these guys as they look to be at least in their late 20s but are committing petty crimes one would expect teens to commit. Anyway, they are hired by some mysterious porn broker to break into a house where an old man lives and steal a certain VHS tape. What is on the tape? They don't know, but sure as heck going to make copies of it so they can later profit even more from this theft. They find at least a dozen tapes, so in order to find the one they're looking for they begin playing them all. One by one, each tape tells a POV story and are seemingly unrelated. It left me wondering where the old guy gets these tapes.The first tape they check shows the story of three college age guys through a new pair of spy-cam glasses. Their aim is to find some unwitting female night club patrons, take them back to their motel room and film themselves having sex. One of the girls they choose seems a bit odd, and as she shows more and more signs that tell the guys she isn't quite normal, we learn she has the designs on one of the guys in particular. The second tape shows the rather dreary second honeymoon of a couple of twenty-somethings as they tour the American Southwest. One night a mysterious woman knocks on their motel room door asking for a ride. When the husband declines, someone begins stalking them. A fortune the wife recieves earlier does all the foreshadowing we need. On the third tape we are shown the story of four youths who are going into the woods for the day to swim in an old-fashioned swimmin' hole. The catch is the girl leading the expedition has a secret, rather selfish reason for bringing the others. I don't think I'm too far over the line by saying this story seems to be influenced by "The Marble Hornets" web series. The fourth tape features a series of web-cam sessions between a couple of young lovers. The girl begins thinking her apartment is haunted and asks her boyfriend to be her moral support and record different rooms of her apartment via his web cam. The truth, however, is something that may even be too far out there that the writers of "The X-Files" couldn't have thought it up. The last tape shows us a group of guys who haven't outgrown their love of Halloween. When they get to a house they think a costume party is being thrown at they find the place deserted, except the lights are all on and they can hear voices upstairs. As they explore the house, some strange occurences make them believe they actually entered one of those funhouses that crop up every Halloween. Once they find the source of the voices, up in the attic, they realize what they were experiencing was no funhouse gag but something very supernatural, and before they can leave the house it'll get a whole lot worse.As another reviewer said, this is a wild movie. I happen to love the POV subgenre of horror movies (when it's done right) and given that with an anthology you won't have that much time for character development (or even story development for that matter) and given some of these stories leave more questions than answers this was a fun, entertaining film. Be warned: if you like your movies squeaky clean with minimal profanity, little graphic violence, no drugs and no nudity, this film is NOT for you. I also hope, like another reviewer said, they meake a sequel of this movie soon. The premise is easy to set-up, and given the number of VHS tapes that were in the house that we didn't get to see, the possibilities are limitless, even if the budget isn't.

Surprisingly good but...ok,first things first. This film is an anthology film meaning it is broken up of individual stories in one film. That is slightly important to know going into this or you are going to be confused thinking its one film with one plot from beginning to end. The way the movie is filmed already makes it confusing enough since it is shot Blair Witch style and with broken segments of VHS type quality directing. I am not a fan of this amateur POV (point of view) style directing but whatever. I was on the verge of giving this movie 5 stars based on the second short( "Amateur Night") within the movie alone. It is one of the creepiest things I've viewed. However, along the way came other shorts which weren't bad but seemed incomplete and unsatisfying. After watching the movie I looked up the film on Wikipedia and it explained some of what I missed or didn't catch on to and then it made sense. This is definitely a film that needs your uninterrupted attention because (once again)the way it is shot is confusing. For a low budget film it is great and is one of the better horror films I've seen in awhile. I can see why some are not going to like this movie because of the way it is shot and edited but that's what makes it different. As I mentioned earlier, I am also not a fan of the Blair Witch style directing (or the Blair Witch movie for that matter). Unless you are very eagle eyed and sharp I doubt you are going to completely understand each of these shorts during your first time viewing it which is a turn off for a lot of people. But watched late at night and not expecting much from it, it mostly satisfied me with its creepy content and depravity.

Compre la película sin saber nada de ella, el precio fue más que nada lo que me hizo decidir comprarla. En cuanto al formato en DVD es región 1 y viene con subtítulos en español y idioma en inglés. La trama no es muy buena, el principio de la película es muy interesante, dando a entender que pudieron hacer mucho más, la película está dividida por distintas cintas de video, la cual está dirigida por distintos directores, cada una de ellas es muy distinta y muy única, aún así puedes morir sin ver esta película, no te pierdes nada.

Je crois que j'ai bien aimé.Trop longtemps que je l'ai visionné.(je l'avais certainement déja évalué).Le probleme c'est que je ne m'en rappelle plus.Je trouve que les demandes d'évaluations d'amazon,devraient s'anhihiller au bout de six mois,ou au moins au bout d'un an!? Au bout de quelques mois on ne s'en souviens plus.Je regarde 8 &épisodes et 4 films par soirée /nuit,par jour en moyenne.

Really great movie V/H/S is. I bought this on a whim, not knowing much of the movie, except on the fact that I like Found Footage Horror movies. And after I watched this, I was glad I bought it on little knowledge. It just made the movie much more interesting to watch. There are five separate stories being played here in a vhs style (six if you count the main story happening). If you don't like one, at least you can like the other ones. They range from bizarre, to really creepy, to very gory. I recommend this movie to all the horror buffs.

Antologia di film horror girati con camera a spalla.C'è una cornice narrativa che lega tutti gli episodi anche se la macro trama rimane non chiarissima.Lo stile documentaristico è usato molto bene e come sempre quando questo avviene l' effetto orrorifico ne guadagna.Ti dimentichi quasi che stai guardando un film e ti sembra piuttosto di star vedendo un filmino domestico e poi all' improvviso succedono cose strane.Alcuni episodi funzionano meglio di altri ma nel complesso è tutto molto convincente.
