This Montreal band has toured with the likes of Modest Mouse and The Arcade Fire, they played last year's All Tomorrow's Parties festival in California, self-released two limited edition EPs, and have a song (a cover of Frog Eyes' "Claxxon's Lament") on The Believer magazine's recent covers comp. Time magazine picked "Apologies..." as one of "Canada's Most Anticipated Indie Albums Of The Year". Expect to see and hear much more from Wolf Parade.

Impressive album
I found out about this band through the Subpop website. Read up on its accolades as one of the great albums of the 2000’s. Interesting effect of toggling the lead singwriters. They are both good and the textures are really interesting. The vocals get a little grating and annoying at times — and I have a very high tolerance for that kind of thing. But, overall really good. A little too derivative of Radiohead here and there, but not a big deal. At times they sound better than what they’re imitating and its not a major part of their sound which is generally original.

Solid...Solid...Solid
Ahhhh...another great band from the Montreal scene...Wolf Parade has emerged with a fantastic debut album, and unlike some other reviewers, i definitely feel they can improve with age...However, they COULD easily fizzle, seeing their penchant for adding new members and possibly becoming TOO incohesive. But, with that said, this is an amazing album with only a couple tracks that aren't great. The opening song - "I am a runner..." is simply great...if you like jerky guitars and fantastic lyrics/vocals..."modern world" morphs beautifully out of the first track and immediately lets you know that this will be a solid album. the 3rd track has to remind you of modest mouse, but is still very good (not saying m.m. is not good). the album continues strong and finishes fine...though they could have removed or at least moved the last track "this hearts on fire", as it is a little weak, comparatively.I think they have their own sound, but if i was to compare them to other artists...i would say they are a little bit modest mouse, a little bit early david bowie, and will get you moving like arcade fire.btw, the ep is well worth the money...2 tracks not included on the album that are solid.

Fantastic CD by excellent band!
I liked this band immediately upon hearing them 3 years ago or so. Their sound does invoke Modest Mouse/Talking Heads at times, if you enjoy those bands you will surely love this. In my view this is one of the best new bands of the last several years, just wish they where a bit more prolific.

Espectacular

this edition is really great, quality is tremendous in the three LP's... expo 86 would be another great option and I recommend Divine Fits' LP if you're a Dan Boeckner's fan
