THESE are the ones you want!
Just received these and I am so pleased with them. It took a bit to know what size I needed as it is somewhat ambiguous. I’m here to take out some of the guess work. My widest calf measurement is 16” exactly. I ordered the XL. When I zipped them on, it felt like they were perfect. There is a stretch panel down the full length at the back by the zipper as shown. It is NOT STRETCHED on me, but it is not loose at all. I’m wearing thin leggings here and if I wore jeans or other fabric with any more substantial thickness, these would for sure fit over because they CAN stretch. I had previously purchased a pair of large ones and while they can be zipped, they have to stretch some to do so. I don’t like feeling squished by my clothing, so I opted for the XL instead. Pay attention to the length measurement on the size chart. It is accurate and if you have shorter lower legs it could be an issue. I am 5ft 7in and they hit right at the bend at the back of my knee. They couldn’t really be any taller or they would be uncomfortable there. High quality materials, easy to zip, and will be a perfect presentation for the local dressage shows. Paired them with the TuffRider Ladies Starter Front Zip Paddock Boots as they come in wide widths. A very affordable overall option as I couldn’t find any tall boots to fit me that weren’t hundreds of dollars. Extremely pleased all around!

First Impressions: Beautiful quality. Allow them to wear in!
I have only just received these today and have not ridden in them yet, but my first impressions so far are really good - only 2 concerns that are related to the zipper (though not due to quality).I am 5'4" 150lbs and at first could just barely get a medium on over thick winter breeches. I didn't have any help, so trying to pull the zipper downwards around my calf was extremely difficult. I was afraid I was going to half to put them right back into the box. However, I got them on and wore them around town for several hours. After getting home I unzipped and zipped them back up with very little difficulty, so it looks like they will break in without too much trouble. If they are tight, don't give up on the first try-on!The zipper actually seems pretty sturdy and didn't threaten to pop as I squeezed my calf into it. However I do have 2 concerns looking forward:The zipper zips downward from the top and the elastic that goes around the back of your heel snaps to keep it in place. Because the chaps are currently very tight on me, the zipper really wants to pop up and unzip itself. The elastic actually keeps in from unzipping more than half an inch, but I am afraid the zipper will eventually wear the elastic strap down. Maybe it won't be an issue after the chaps full break in. We'll see!The second concern is due to the zipper location. I have pretty short legs...I do like my half chaps to be tall and then wear in, but this is my first pair of chaps with the zipper directly on the back rather than on the side. These chaps come allll the way up to the back of my knee and the zipper fastening is very uncomfortable. I am hoping that I can just use some moleskin to pad it for awhile and then the chaps will wear down - but if it doesn't wear down far enough I will need to somehow attach a more permanent padding. If you have slightly longer legs than I do, you may not have any problems with this. These chaps are really nice looking. They don't look pleather-y or like you are trying to fake tall boots (I really hate that). They just look like really nice, professional half chaps. They feel really sturdy and look like leather even though they are synthetic. -The photos make them look a little more dull than they actually are- The moment I pulled them out of the box I really liked the feel of them. The inside does have a felt lining, so it is nice and soft, but I definitely will be going back to my lightweight canvas chaps for summer! For now, I am hoping these will keep me warm through the frigid foxhunting season.Overall, the quality and stiching all seems really good and as long as the zipper doesn't dig into my knee-pit forever (haha) I can see myself really loving these!

Quality 1/2 chaps
Very comfortable, very durable. The only thing that bugs me is the zipper doesn’t stay put when fully zipped (at the end of zipper). It always creeps up 1-2 inches during my rides. That said, these chaps saved my calf from being damaged (I was riding a young, rather large Thorobred who likes to hug the arena fence and by surprise he rubbed and shoved my left leg against a corner gate... Chaps got ripped and so did my breeches underneath, but my calf was hardly even bruised. Quick stitches at the shoe repair shop fixed ‘em, and they’re good enough to keep using). Very sturdy 1/2 chaps! A nice safety addition to the equestrian closet!

Great fit
Between these and Ariat chaps I purchased: The over all design is a smarter work of art than the Ariat ones. It has an elastane zipper band in case your calves are a bit bigger than the normal slender ones. The price is way better too. They are more comfortable with that extra lastic band on the zipper line/ less tight.

Zipper upside down
The zippers are upside down the chaps making it extremely difficult to put on. Will not buy this brand again.

Seems to run large but overall seems good quality for price
I liked that they were easy to get on, but worry that they may stretch out and end up being too large after a month or so, that's yet to be determined. I had some discomfort with the snap by the ankle on one side while riding, but perhaps this will go away as I break them in. Overall I'll keep them and am optimistic I'll be satisfied in the long run with them. If I had it to do over again probably would get a small instead of medium.

FANTASTIC!
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE! I have high insteps and a wide calf so I always need custom boots, these fix that problem when I don't HAVE to wear boots. They absolutely do match the Saxon boots so you have a very good look at a very good price. I was planning to leave these at my parent's house so I have them when I need them but I think I will keep them with me at home and get a second set to leave there. Really happy with the purchase.Listing could use a size chart, I ordered the XL as my calf is wide (15" at fullest), they fit perfectly on ankle, height, everything. I am 5' 7"

They fit like a medium.
I just got these so I cannot comment about durability or comfort. I did want to comment about size since that was my major concern after so many reviews. I am a true medium. Everything I own is a medium. I am 5’6 ....140lbs. Normal sized calves. These things fit perfectly. Now if I carried weight in my calves or had a huge muscles it may be too small but they work perfectly for me. They do have a good bit of stretch. I even added a picture of my normal medium calves.
