Does what it says. I can see why people say it stops working, and it did happened to me, but the quick fix to it is really easy, just manually pinch the two head closer and press the button, and when the ark appears simply slowly un-pinch the heads, and it should work just fine from that, sometimes it could be due to soot, oil or any other substances that obstructed the conduction.

Excellent alternative to a gas lighter
Excellent alternative to a gas lighter. Nice safety feature that the zapper can't be activated without pulling down to access the button. Charges via USB. Just one thing to note, if you find it stops working for no reason, you may have wax where the laser comes out, if you do - just remove it and it will work again.

Its a shame that this only worked for a short while. When I first got it I was thrilled it made it so much easier to light candles without burning my fingers. However, after only a short time it stopped working completely - I recharged it but it still didn't work so it had to be returned for a refund.

Hugely disappointed in this item
Hugely disappointed in this item. It doesn't stay on long enough to light the wicks. So you spend an age re triggering it over and over again to light just one wick. I cant tell you how disappointed I am . I thought it was going to be a life changer ! Its back to the lighters I'm afraid :(

Expensive and not rechargeable in my experience.
Bought last Dec and used briefly to light candles at Christmas. Brought it out at weekend to use and it’s stopped working and will not take a charge. Charger light comes on briefly when plugged in then goes out. Reading through the reviews this is a common problem.

Great gift for candle fanatic
I bought this as a gift (for a candle fanatic) and it was very well received. The item came in a nice box too which helps. Fascinating how well it works.

Worked well for the first few uses!
Lit candles very well for a while, yet after bit it just stopped working tried cleaning the metal pads to help with the connection of the current but nothing! Didn't last as long as a lighter would have done.
