Batman: Damned (2018-2019)

Batman: Damned is one of the most visually stunning Batman comics I've ever read. The artwork is absolutely phenomenal, with every page feeling like it belongs in a gallery instead of a comic shop. The story leans into horror, mystery, and psychological tension without ever forgetting who Batman is at his core. It's dark, atmospheric, and rewards readers who enjoy a more mature, supernatural take on the character. Whether you're a longtime Batman fan or just looking for something different, this is an unforgettable read. Highly recommended.

Many of the poor reviews are valid, but only if you do not appreciate and understand ambiguity and metaphorical story telling. The story leaves a lot to be interrupted and does not tell a linear story. It feels almost what a Batman story done by David Lynch would feel like. It is a very well done story and mixed with the amazing art gives a new masterpiece in the Batman elseworld arc. Along with Red Rain, Gothman by Gaslight, and White Knight this is a great story if the non-linear way that the story is presented can be appreciated and doesn't interfere with the enjoyment of the read.

I see that this one is a little divisive in the fact that so much is left to interpretation. Without going into spoiler territory, this is best looked at as a character study on Bruce Wayne/Batman with some different elements than what we are used to. This is not a book to blast through, but it is one to look at the meaning behind the panels (believe me, it will be hard to speed through these extremely well drawn panels). Again this is not a book for everyone, but if you come into it with the right mindset you're in for a visual and prolific experience. I know that I would be happy to revisit it. As far as the actual product goes, this is a very wide book as far as comics go. If you're a collector like myself, be ready for that.

I loved the artwork in this book thats the main reason it gets 4 stars from me. The actual writing itself is ok. I wasn't a fan of not knowing who was actually doing the dialog the entire book. I thought they could have done a better job at that. I'm a huge fan of Constantine but if feel like he was not used right. I love the brother blood scenes in the book, it looks like the Matt Reeves Batman movie might have used the same scenes for the movie. If not let's see it on the big screen soon. Other than that great art ok book. Good buy for Batman fans maybe not your average comic readers.

If you see Lee Bermejo's name on a comic, buy it; especially if you love Batman. This edition, in particular, is loaded with great artwork and quality. Lee Bermejo draws the way Ivan Albright paints. His art is so Gothic and realistic, which really compliments a Batman story. Sometimes you buy a comic and it doesn't live up to your expectation. The pairing of Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo is guaranteed quality in every book.

I never saw batman in this light and I am impressed! This book was nuts in that the artwork is so unique and amazing as well as the story. Prepare to see batman in a new light, and also be a little confused about the plot line... I had to look up online the synopsis because I was definitely thinking, "what the heck am I reading"?

I can see why some of the other viewers didn’t like this is much. It definitely seem to be a little confusing with the way they did narration. But I thought it was excellent. I’m a fan of vertigo titles which is now the black label and so it was great to see a lot of Those characters in the story, in a believable story line. The art is excellent and overall I enjoyed it.

Ignoring the controversy of Bat privates, this is a definite worthy purchase for avid Bat fans. Art is dream-like, eerie and beautiful. Narrative is disjointed with purpose but the writing of Batman Elseworlds or otherwise kind of lacked, painting him as a bit more cruel, narcissistic and broken. The end kind of typifies sound and fury signifying nothing to quote Shakespeare. I liked the journey but did not necessarily love the destination.

This is a good read and I like the art if you’re a Batman fan I’d say get it

Great story and artworks really loved the way the Joker is defined in the story i would recommend to everyone who loves this book as much as I do just go for it. The book is super sick and I would be thrilled to purchase more of this just loved it 🦇
