...and Now for Eons of Futurama
Regardless of whether the Fox network knows it or not - and they probably don't given their scheduling practices - Futurama is one of the most well written, constructed, and designed shows ever to appear on television, rivaled only by its progenitor the Simpsons. As for Futurama's third season, whenever Fox decided to actually air the show in a stable and non-preempted time slot, the show's creators delivered a tremendous set of episodes during the season, as shown in yet another fantastically constructed box set. As usual, there are a few items of interest, at least for obsessive collectors, in the DVD extras. But the actual Futurama episodes carry the day and speak for themselves. There is not a single sub-par episode in the third season. The main characters were becoming deeper and more defined, as character development remained one of the writing team's most important strategies. (This has always been true for the Simpsons as well, except for the past few seasons.) The character with the most growth this season is Fry, as can be seen in surprisingly emotional episodes like "Parasites Lost," "The Luck of the Fryrish," and the ending scene of the otherwise uproarious "Time Keeps on Slipping." Meanwhile, this season gives us more on Leela's mysterious background, and Bender just gets more and more hysterical with each episode. We also learn that he's really a Mexican by the name of Bender B. Rodriguez.Futurama continues to present, by far, modern TV's best use of the standard fiction method of lampooning real-life issues through an imaginative society. And the writing continues to be flawless, with complex and detailed hilarity throughout all the episodes, especially all-time winners like "Amazon Women in the Mood," "Insane in the Mainframe," and the aforementioned "Time Keeps on Slipping" (in which Bubblegum Tate of the Globetrotters delivers the most hysterical one-liner in all of human history: "that sucker's shakin' around like some fine imported booty!"). And don't miss the deservedly Emmy-winning masterpiece "Roswell That Ends Well," an absolutely brilliant example of complex comedy craftsmanship. Futurama is a show that is eye-catching and thought-provoking enough to truly make DVD's a beautiful technology. [~doomsdayer520~]

Thank you Amazon for digital Futurama
I'm what they call a Futurama sleeper. I didn't even know that was a thing until Netflix stopped showing the series. Then I saw all these articles about how thousands of people fall asleep while watching Futurama. I tried other shows but after over a decade of falling asleep watching Futurama I had to buy the series on DVD. The problem I had with the DVDs is that I had to get up to change the disc. Which is a problem when you are trying to fall asleep. Now Amazon has them on digital so I can just press play and crawl into bed. I have rewatched this series so many times I've learned the alienese and translate it whenever I see it.

A bit spotty
Futurama was a great show, but season 3 saw it enter some of the overly sentimental territory that The Simpsons has been mining for the last several years. 'Parasites Lost', 'The Luck of the Fryrish', 'Roswell that Ends Well', 'Time Keeps on Slippin', and 'Insane in the Mainframe' are highlights, and are reason enough to buy the entire season. On the other hand, 'That's Lobstertainment', 'The Route of all Evil', 'Godfellas', 'Future Stock', 'Bendin' in the Wind' and 'A Pharaoh to Remember' are among the worst episodes of the series. It's hard to imagine some of the latter episodes being made by the same team who made brilliant (for the most part) season one and two episodes. My advice would be to buy this season if you love the show (and ,hey, if you love the show, you've already bought this!), but if you're a more casual fan, buy season one or two, which are both more consistently strong. When Futurama was at its best, it was probably the best thing on tv. Unfortunately, when it was at its worst, as in a few of these episodes, it was quite boring.

Can't get enough of that Futurama!
This is the third season, 22 episodes on 4 discs, with extras, audio commentary on all episodes and much more. These are some of the best episodes, with Amazons, parasitic worms, the return of Sanata, penguins, evil brains, Hollywood magic, insane robots, buggalo herds, an army of Lucy Liu robots, blernsball, 1947, and cooking! Even the warnings and ratings at the start of each DVD is great. But of course, what I wanted was Bender. Bender as god, Bender meeting God, Bender as a Iron Cook, Bender as a folk singer, Bender as the Tin man, Bender as a father, Bender as a Pharaoh, Bender as an insane bank robber, Bender as a penguin, and Bender as a human. In the commentary of episode 17, "A Pharaoh To Remember", Billy West and John DiMaggio are Fry and Bender - giving the characters a chance to talk during a commentary! And episode 19, "Roswell That Ends Well", has two audio commentaries!I can't wait for season four!

so they arrived in perfect condition. I own all 8 volumes of Futurama ...
Futurama really hits stride in Season 3. All of this seasons episodes are comedy classics. The disc are individually packaged in plastic cases, so they arrived in perfect condition. I own all 8 volumes of Futurama and have never experienced a problem with packaging. I've read other reviews slamming the packaging, so the problem was either resolved when I purchased my volumes individually or I was blessed with good sets of discs and packaging. Season 3 has an icon to select "Play All." This is a major improvement over Volumes 1 and 2. Seasons 3 and 4 are Futurama at it's 5 star absolute best; however, Volumes 5 through 8 are great, too, and rate 4.8 stars. I wish there were more episodes and more seasons of this animated comedy classic.

Excelente serie

Crappy Packaging
I have purchased a few seasons of the show, and unfortunately all the disks came scratched due to the sleeves the disks are in which is a little disappointing. My Xbox still plays them fairly well, some skipping here and there but it's functional.Thank you for your review.
