Amped Wireless High Power Touch Screen AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender (TAP-EX2)

Best Extender I've TriedI've tried many range extenders from Linksys to Netgear and belkin as well as one from Amped Wireless. Since I've installed a few of these for myself and for friends that's I've recommended to I consider myself knowledgable with how these work. This one was purchased as a gift for my dad since his house was also suffering for dead spots outside and in his living room. The reason I chose this one is because of the ones I've tried in the past Amped has by far the longest range. This one adds the touch screen and features more power so I thought I'd give it a shot.First, installation out of the box was easier than any extender I've tried. I didn't need to connect a computer to it and it was done in less than 2 minutes. The final countdown was a bit slow but that's the case with all extenders. The setup with the touch screen was so simple that I showed my dad how to use it as well as all the features in the menu and he got it. This saves me a headache in the future for having to come back and troubleshoot if there are any problems.Second, the range and performance is as expected. Very very good. Again vs the other extenders I've tried this has the longest range. Speed wise it was hard to tell since my dads ISP is not the fastest to begin with but it did the job getting the wifi and streaming over to the rooms that we're having trouble with it previously.Last the touch screen menu also lets you update the software via the web which was a plus since I haven't seen that on any others.Cons: the unit is a little more expensive but you do get what you are pay for. I'm sure the touch screen is not cheap to add but it really makes this product worth the money. Will be recommending this one to friends moving forward.

jesus, after all the wifi extenders I have dicked with over the years trying to set them up, this was the easiest of them all. Network, network on the wall, what's the easiest range extender of them all? This one. Don't get anything else. You won't need your kids to set this up, you can do it yourself, its THAT easy. All the setup is on an idiot-proof, walk-through screen. It finds your network, you tap it, boom. yes, you have to use the onscreen keyboard to enter the password.Come on, NO HOOKING IT UP TO YOUR COMPUTER FIRST. That's a godsend. Thank you, lord of computers, for delivering me from complicated setups. Amen.UPDATE 4 months later. I have taken this from 5 stars to 2 stars because after 3 months, the thing keeps dropping connection, several times per day and I have to go through setting it up again every time. As you know, it takes 5 minutes to reboot, rescan, setup, and connect. The signal strength from my main router is always 85%. It says the firmware is up to date. But, I can not access the web setup menu from any pc or tablet in the house because the connection to amped wireless setup page, times OUT every single time. That is not a 'me' problem, that is an 'amped wireless' problem in that this device can not make connections, let alone maintain or sustain them. So since I can't get to the setup webpage, I can not access other settings that support suggests could improve performance. 3 months and it turned into worse than useless, because it keeps teasing me that it might work and then 20 minutes later drops the connection, an extremely frustrating exercise in futility. I have ordered a different brand and can not wait to take this one to the firing range.

Junk, Junk. It has become an expensive paper weight. I have spent over eight hours trying to get it to work; an hour here, an hour there. Set it aside to deal with the other aspects of life and then go back, the true definition of insanity, hoping that it will work this time. Because I have delayed, cannot return product. I have two other of these devices in the house (same manufacturer), and they work great, actually amazing, so I know I am not doing anything wrong. Got the new version, which also has 5.0 ghz, not just 2.4, and everything falls apart. I actually sat next to my router, I had 100% signal strength, and could not get it to connect. I would avoid this product at all costs; "upgrades" to products don't always make them better. It is situations like these that you would like to speak directly to the engineer that designed it and have him stop by the house...

Bought this to Extend in-house Wi-Fi. My home is older, two story with many walls to hinder wi-fi and this unit has taken care of the problem. Close to main router laptops and tv's work fine but at other end of the house after you wind your way around walls and down halls wi-fi seemed impossilbe. Not anymore! Amped Wireless Extender was easy to set up - easy to operate and now seems to just maintain itself. It now allows me to go outside around the outside perimeter of the yard and keep connected too. Very happy with this items performance and it was also a great price. I reviewed many extenders and I chose this one after I visited ampedwireless.com and read all the details of this item and then made my decision based on my gathered information. There is also a video on 'youtube' of how to set up and use this and it will show you all you need to know. I set it and 'almost' forget it!
