Magic Tricks You Can Master: Svengali Deck

I wanted a starter deck and this one seemed to have good reviews. Since this is my first svengali deck, I can't compare. Overall for the price, I think I got value for what I paid for.

In my quest to be the coolest uncle, I was looking for some magic tricks to show my niece and nephew and picked up this set. The DVD is fairly short, but goes over a few tricks that you can perform with the deck. The DVD has a very good flow to it and shows you how to build upon a basic trick into more tricks. There is a quick demonstration of the trick, then a step by step breakdown and explanation of what is going on. After following along with the DVD, with about 15 minutes of practice I was able to perform the tricks without any difficulty at all. I was able to amaze my coworker and his kids the very next day.The Svengali deck that comes with the DVD is decent quality. I have another Bicycle Svengali deck, but both of them work fine for the tricks presented. The one included with the deck can actually be used for a trick that the Bicycle printed deck cannot be used for, due to the design printed on the back. The Bicycle printed Svengali decks are fairly cheap and raise less suspicion about it being a trick deck, so I would recommend picking one of those up if you are worried about that.Price does appear to be slightly high for a single DVD and cards for a few tricks, but the stores that specialize in magic tricks often sell sets like this for far more, with only paper instructions that are hard to follow. Based on the ease of learning the tricks with the DVD, however, I think the cost is justified. If you are looking for a good way to learn some basic tricks and you are a visual learner, this is a perfect way to learn.

Decent entry level Svengali Deck. Cards are pretty cheap and have a slick finish. They are also pretty stiff. Got better after some breaking in. Still not as good as a bicycle deck though. I would recommend spending the extra money for a better quality deck

This is not a great Svengali deck. The cards don't feel like they are legal sized (immediately arousing suspicion in your audience). Their quality is poor, making them sticky and hard to work with. Above that, the secret Svengali "cut" to the key cards is not enough to keep you from ruining the effect of the trick half the time (either showing the numerous key cards too soon or not at all).

Easy to learn the basics of the Svengali deck if you've never had experienced the deck. If you want to do the Svengali deck tricks, begin learning the deck through this DVD.The bonus of getting a Svengali deck helps, especially in doing the Teleportation routine since most decks don't come wrapped in plastic.

It is simple and entertaining.

I bought this for my 11 yr. old grandson for Christmas. It came in a timely manner and looks like a lot of fun. I think he will love it!

As with anything you are learning, it takes time and practice. Should be a fun talent to develop.
