einszett 970331 Silver Spray Paint - 13.5 fl. oz., (Pack of 12)

This paint matches the silver on most, if not all, German wheels. I used it to repaint/ touch up some BMW 325i wheels. It worked perfectly. Matches exactly. It is sold with VHT clear coat which you will also need.

As mentioned in previous reviews, the nozzle on both of the cans used was terrible but being forewarned I swapped it out with a nozzle from another brand and it worked fine. I painted two OEM silver 5 spoke AMG rims from my Mercedes CLS500 and they look great. I removed the flaking paint and used the self etching primer and followed with a couple of coats of this paint followed up with several coats of clear coat. My wheels look like new! I should mention that I tried a couple of other spray paints from other brands but did not get the exact match I was looking for. The spray does sometimes still come out splotchy but stick with it and apply multiple coats and it will all even out. I was pleased with the final result and it was much cheaper than having it done professionally.

This product has the worst nozzle I have ever used in over 50 years of spray painting! It clogs during every activation, spits globs of paint, and provides an uneven and spotty spray pattern during the few seconds that it even partially works. Half the time it just plain does not dispense any paint at all. I have tried 2 different cans, so it is unlikely that this is a rare exception. I had heard that the nozzles were of poor quality, but I cannot believe they are this poorly made in the year 2013! I finally swapped the nozzle with one from a different brand's compatible spray can, and the improvement was dramatic and complete. Besides the poor quality of the nozzle, this paint does not cover well, and dries to a rough finish even on a smooth surface. Spend a few extra bucks and get the other German silver wheel paint. It will save you a lot of frustration, time, and sub-par results. This product is terrible. I would not use it again even if it was free!

The paint does match the paint on the other wheels on our German car. I followed the directions and did not have the blotching issue others have had. I did have that issue when I tested it to see if it matched the paint on the wheel and held the can too close to the wheel. The directions say to hold 10" away and apply light coats. While this eliminated the blotching issue it did not give a good glossy result. For that you have to hold the can closer and that causes runs and the splotchy issue. I applied 3 coats with the wheel off the car so I could tape off the tires and not get paint on the rotors behind the wheel and also get a better result. The end result was a finish that while uniform and nice looking from a few feet away the surface of the wheel was left rough and dull compared to the other wheels. I then applied Dupli-Color clear coat wheel paint hoping that would make the wheel glossy and smooth. I applied 3 coats but that did not work either. My recommendation is to spend a little more and get the Wurth Silver Wheel paint and clear coat. While I have not tried this paint it has good reviews but is morre expensive. I will try and wet sand the wheel to see if I can make it smooth and more glossy after the paint cures. I was going to do another wheel that has a few minor issues but decided to just leave it alone since it looks better than the newly painted wheel. I don't recommend this wheel paint.

I have been searching for a duplicate color for the barrels on my BBS RS wheels. I read some reviews and most of them said it was a good color match. I have to agree, it is. Just to make sure I prepped and painted an area on the barrel and it was almost impossible to tell the difference. Now I am only using this for the barrel and not the center. For that I will have them professionally powder coated.

I bought it for touch up of VW Atheo 19" wheels that has both brushed aluminum and painted finish. One wheel had some marks on it so I tried this paint to paint over an entire corner of the wheel - it didn't match exactly so I wiped over the surface with lacquer thinner. The part that remained in the marks then looked perfect so it worked for what I needed at least.

I should have heeded numerous online posts regarding this paint. Despite shaking it for an extended period of time, it was nearly impossible to achieve a good finish on the wheel I was refinishing (three light & careful coats). Very inconsistent spray pattern, and highly-annoying splotches of paint as I used up more of the can.I've gone through literally dozens & dozens of cans of spray paint over the years - mostly DupliColor products, and typically with predictably excellent results. This was by far the worst-performing can of spray paint I've ever used.Unfortunately I will need to wait until the paint has dried, strip the wheel again, and repaint with a different product. Very, very disappointing. The only positive is that the color is a very good match for European alloy wheel silver. But that is for naught if the paint sprays as if sent through a window screen...

I used this paint to paint several things, from a full set of steel wheels through OEM BBS RS center caps. The paint match to OEM is uncanny and impressive. It does take time to get the paint to cover properly, but the results are worth it.

The color matched my TT wheels exactly.

Applied well. Time will tell how durable it is.
