Jane Fonda's Easy Going Prime Time Workout

Excellent for beginners and those needing a change of pace
One area of confusion is seeing this titled "Jane Fonda's Easy Going Workout" when the opening shows "Prime Time". This program was originally released in 1984 as "Jane Fonda's Prime Time Workout". In 1987, several of her videos were re-issued under the Lorimar Home Video label and the title was changed to "Jane Fonda's Easy Going Workout" to appeal to a wider audience. Although the cover art and tape labels reflected the new title, the program opening and introduction still refer to it as "Prime Time". And not to confuse this with the newer "Prime Time" series she released in the 2000s. If you purchase this and begin the program and see "Prime Time", it's not an error. You have the correct video. The program features a 45-minute program focused on stretching and toning. The entire body is covered, and there's even a barre exercise section for leg toning. There is an aerobic component (about 5-7 minutes in total) and is primarily higher impact, with jogging, jumping jacks and skipping movements, followed by a lower impact cool-down. One participant behind Jane performs a majority of the moves with at least one foot on the floor, so anyone who doesn't want to or can't perform the higher intensity style can look to this participant for alternatives. The background jazz music is performed by Steps Ahead and fits the program very nicely. Aside from a chair to use for the barre exercises and an exercise mat for the floor work, no equipment is needed. One mention regarding the audio of this program, mainly if you have the DVD (it's not as noticeable on the digital version). If you are listening to the program on DVD and are having trouble listening to vocals and only hearing music, you must ensure your audio cables for both left and right audio are connected to your DVD player and the TV. If you are only connecting one audio cable, it is likely the reason why you cannot hear vocals. The first four Jane Fonda Workouts were recorded with dual channel audio - the left audio channel contains both music and vocal instructions, while the right audio channel contains only music. This allowed consumers who owned the RCA VideoDiscs of these programs and who had stereo disc players to select the audio channel of their preference. If you are connecting your DVD player to a TV and do not have the left audio channel ports connected, you will only hear music. This DVD, as well as the original Workout DVD, have this audio setup so ensuring a proper cable connection will avoid any issues in hearing the vocals.Overall, this is a great program. It is thorough and demanding without being overly strenuous. Coming from someone who, in years past, would opt for the more advanced programs offered in the original Workout, the Workout Challenge and the New Workout, with age this has become a much more appreciated routine. The change of pace, the intensity level and the format are all great. Whether you're someone looking to get back into a regular exercise regimen or someone who needs a gentler program to scale back to, this will be incredibly beneficial. For beginners, I would recommend pairing this with her Low Impact Aerobic Workout (also on DVD and digital). This program provides a longer aerobic program, good to alternate with this video, or even doing the Low Impact video during the aerobic section of Easy Going/Prime Time.

Still a great video
You cannot go wrong with her tapes. I do as much as I can since I am not as young as I used to be.

Stretching, resistance and aerobics.
This was originally Jane's Prime Time Workout that she made in 1984, not to be confused with her newer ones she made a few years ago. It is a 45 minute workout that focuses on stretching with a high impact aerobic section. Not extreme aerobics, but a lot of jumping, and twisting that my arthritic knees cannot handle any longer. There is a woman you can follow that does low impact if this part is too hard for you to do. She also does some resistance exercises standing with a chair that are 'knee challenging' at least for me. Her other workouts do similar exercises on the floor which I prefer. This workout is good for all ages, but if you have any type of knee problems, it might not be for you. I prefer her original and newer prime time workouts.

good after all these years
This is one of my mother`s tapes from her original collection.Jane Fonda`s Prime Time Workout, she has had it for years.I think she bought it when it was brand new.I was a bit weary about doing it at first.I thought it was going to be too easy or something.I ended up loving it. Jane does a lot of stretching that makes me feel great on this video. She does a lot of ballet moves and toning. The aerobics portion is also very nice.Me and my mother love doing this tape.I do not think it is dated at all.It is still a wonderful workout after all the years that have passed. This tape is wonderful for flexibility and the stretching is unsurpassed.Jane fonda is a wonderful instructer,I love her work.I highly reccomend this tape for everybody.

Not good
This isn't even worth the 4.99 price. Poor quality. I've enjoyed other Jane Fonda workouts, but this one is a big disappointment.

jane fonda rocks
whether they are fasr or slow, high impact or low impact, jane fonda's workouts are the most informative, the most diversified and the most exciting. she' is very motivating, makes you feel like exercising, and makes it fun. they work and she is the best example of the fact that they work. it won't hurt to follow her lead even now, in her seventies, she still makes it burn. jane fonda rocks. the only one close to her is gilad. he rocks too. but you can never go wrong with jane fpnda's tapes especially the old ones which should be made into dvds. it's true that bouncing around isn't in anymore, but there are still people who enjoy the energy of bouncing and dancing and having fun while getting a good workout

A Total workout- well-paced and challenging.
I liked this video because it provides a real workout, challenging and well paced. If it is too much you can just stop when you need to because the more strenuous parts are near the end. I like Jane Fonda's voice and encouraging cheerful manner. It is fun to do the workout "with her'. I also like the comments she has added more recently which modify or explain some parts.
