Long-Legged Friends: Crochet Creatures to Create and Cuddle Paperback – September 11, 2012

My grandkids love these long-legged friends and I've become addicted to crocheting them. The pictures in the book are beautiful although black and white. The directions are sufficient for anyone who can make a single crochet. Once I figured out how to read the directions, I found I could easily make them suit my own style of crocheting. My favorite "friends" are the bear and the rabbit although most of the work is on each "friend" is the same except for the ears and nose. I'm glad I bought the book and with 18 grandkids, I'll be using it for awhile.

I made one of these special long-legged friends for my grandson that was born just last week. He hasn't gotten to play with it yet, but I can see it being one of his favorite toys in the years to come...

I love this book, it is easy to follow!! Nice photos, a lot of patterns. I recomend it. The patterns are draw in chinese technique.

The one star is for the pictures to be used as inspiration. The instructions are not written in verbiage. All of the patterns are in symbols and charts. If you don't read charts and symbols, you are out of luck with this book. It should have been stated in the description, or on the cover of the book that all of the instructions were in charts and symbols, had that been the case, I would have never bought the book.

Although these friends are adorable, I could not acclimate to the instruction style. So I am still trying to master the directions.

I am experienced in crochet. However I if I had known these patterns were symbols and not traditional I would never have purchased it.. Tried several times to follow with no luck.. Very disappointed!

This is a great book. The directions are super easy to follow! I haven’t finished my rabbit yet (I may have the head wrong), but I am feeling wonderfully crafty at this point!

i love having this book in my collection, however, i find it difficult to read charts in crochet myself, but i just adore all the patterns, and this is so unique.

I found this book great for inspiration, although as a beginner the patterns are hard to follow. The pictures are great and the finished toys make great gifts. My only negative about this book is the way the patterns are displayed, making them hard to follow for a beginner, although not a huge issue it did mean that in the end I rewrote them by hind in the traditional way. The tables are a great idea but if you are just getting to grips with increasing etc then it can be hard to work out when to make the stitches (this is mostly personal preference). The diagrams are great but are quite small so in the end I found myself writing out the pattern the traditional way.

Would be better for novices like me if there were written instructions too, I find it very difficult to follow crochet picture diagrams (therefore, I haven't attempted anything in this book so far)

It's more of a picture book. But some great ideas in there. Hope to make some of them soon.

The pictures at the beginning of the book are entertaining and thoughtful. They really inspired me to make the toys and demonstrated a type of personality for each one.The directions are drawn very simply and are very clear to follow. True, the drawn images may not be as expected, but they do follow the "home-made" style of the book.All in all, a delihtful book that will enable me to produce toys over and over
