Imaginative and Entertaining
Imaginative and entertaining, Glass's series opener successfully delivers with fast-paced action and sizzling sensuality a captivating paranormal romance steeped in fantastic Egyptian mythology. Centuries ago, a tragedy caused dissolution of the collaborative alliance between the jackal shifters, Sons of Anubis, and powerful Egyptian priestesses, Daughters of Isis. In present day Atlanta, Markus Grant, leader of the Sons of Anubis, is sworn to protecting his clan and prevent the Lost Ones from returning to the land of the living. With his clan brothers succumbing to a deadly curse that smells like the spell of an Isis witch, Marcus kidnaps Tia Jensen to undo the spell. Tia, a Daughter of Isis, is both outraged and frighten at being a prisoner, her compassion makes her willing to use her magic to undo the evil spell insisting this is not the work of her coven. When Tia's magical energy needs to be quickly replenished, her unusual erotic request for Markus becomes the spark that unleashes more than their passion and meshes their magic. So will the couple's connection allow the jackals and witches get beyond the centuries of betrayal and hatred towards each other?SEDUCING THE JACKAL is an easygoing read that still manages to be gripping as the plot moves along nicely and the characters develop in such a way that you are quickly invested in them. Markus is the ideal alpha hero that contrasts very nicely with Tia's independent feisty spirit, and skillfully knows just how to provoke her passion. As their passion deepens, the couple sees each other more than just a preconceived stereotype. Secondary characters add the necessary intrigue, conflict and fullness to the storyline and leaving the reader hoping you will see them again. As this is a novella, Glass skillfully wastes no time in setting the story in motion and immersing the reader into her fascinating world. Using the characters to bring the reader up-to-date on the centuries old betrayal and introducing unexpected twists and turns in the present day provides the necessary tension to keep readers on the edge-of-their- seats. But a surprise element is how the punch of humor is combined with the action and romance to showcase the playfulness of the couple.SEDUCING THE JACKAL, the first book in The Sons of Anubis series, is a gorgeous tale of love and making sense of the past with a wonderful mixture of action, dynamic characters and bold passion. This is a welcome addition to the paranormal romance genre.Reviewed by BeverlyRomanceInColor.com

Egyptian mythology and engaging romance made for a satisfying read
Centuries ago the Daughters of Isis and the Sons of Anubis worked together to prevent the dead from returning to the land of the living. But a horrific rift leaving two of their number dead. The daughter believe they were betrayed by the Sons. The Sons believe they were he victims of treachery. Whatever the truth, now the two sects are mortal enemies.Markus is a Jackal shifter and son of Anubis who is determined to destroy the witches of Isis once and for all. They have set a terrible curse on members of his pact and he must have it lifted before it can infect them all. He and his pack seek to kidnap one to lure the rest. But the one they end up with, Tia, comes as a surprise to Markus. Not only is she not an evil witch, she is determined to help them lift their curse. This was a nicely, tightly written novella that feels like a full story. Tia and Markus tussle and argue over ancient history and whose clan was the most wronged. It is obvious they both have the story wrong as we find out later. But until then, they have to first get very hot for each other and resolve to fight for each other instead of against. The book ends on a nicely climactic fight/confrontation between the two warring factions and a centuries old truth is revealed.Even though the story isn't full length, the romance is convincing and I was pleased with it. I also enjoyed the Egyptian mythology. It is always nice to see some other types of mythologies explored that just Greco-Roman.The story is complete but the main villain is still at large so I suspect there might be sequels. I hope so. I liked my intro to this universe.

Wonderful!
As usual, Seressia Glass has written a well written, and well researched story. She also writes great love scenes. So if you do not like them, do not buy any of her books. However, you are missing some good ideas! The worst thing I can say about this book, is it was too darn short! Markus and Tia are good protagonists. Both vulnerable and strong at the same time. Everything that happened to Tia was believable. However, I think she gave in a bit too quickly after being kidnapped. But this is fiction and Ms. Glass can do whatever she wants to with her characters!I enjoyed the Egyptian part of the book. I have a very basic knowledge of those gods and goddesses....and of course my cat reminds me daily that he was worshipped as a god there. LOLI never know how much to write and not give away the story line. What I will say is, READ THIS BOOK! Ms. Glass has done a wonderful job! I look forward to more books in this series!

A five star rating for a story that brings the majesty and intrigue of ancient Egypt intertwined with the Daughters of Isis and the Sons of Anubis. Follow the journey of Tia and her latent powers and Markus leader of the jackals as they find out their hearts and destiny which is hot, hot, hot! Don't be alone after reading this....have your man by your side!!!!

I can't wait for more!!
Wow, Seressia has really struck a chord with this story! I don't read nearly as much traditional romance as in days past, and I have a passing interest in Egyptian spirituality...but I couldn't put this down. It's a short novel (novella?), but I felt thoroughly invested in the characters and scenes. I can't wait to learn more about these characters.
