Brilliant!
Is it possible to love a bin? If so this wins a place in my heart! It a perfect size as it holds enough for it not to need emptying every day, plus it looks neat and tidy in my kitchen. I use one section for paper recycling and the other bit for plastic and glass etc, and although I didn’t think I’d use the food caddy, I find it perfect, and again keeps everything discreetly hidden. I have seen other reviews questioning the robustness of the lid mechanism, but so far it works well and I’ll update my review if i notice a problem. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s an excellent design, so absolutely worth the money.

Neat space saving system
I bought this bin during prime day about 5 years ago and, sad but true, it's one of my favourite purchases. It's perfect for if you live in a flat and have limited space. Rubbish on the top, recycling on the bottom. Massive space saver, looks nice and tidy, easy to empty and clean. Because it has a 2x30L capacity I'm not sure if it would be that suitable for a large family (unless you don't mind taking your bins out frequently) but for a single person or couple, it's perfect.

Quality
Great fit for the smaller Kitchen made of a good quality finish. Price to me seemed a little high but then again quality product

A tidier option
We love this in theory however the capacity does become an issue. First of all the overall quality is very good. It looks stylish and is spacesaving and well made. It's ideal for saving regular trips to external recycling bins. My only complaint is that you still need to empty it every few days anyway so is it really a massive help? Maybe for smaller families I guess. It is really good but if you're a family of 4 or more you'll find that this just fills up after a couple days and is pretty much just an unnecessary holding pen for recycling. Can't knock the quality though. The product is excellent when used in the right setting.

Great space saver
Have limited space for a bin in the house, previous bins took up too much. The vertical stacking of this bin has a much tidier finish and take up less space. Although the compartments are a good size they are smaller than previous taller bins we've had. As a result I find we are taking the bins out more often which is a good thing really! However the smaller size also makes it alot easier to keep clean. The odour filter works well with food and nappies! However can't comment yet on how long it lasts or needs replaced. JJ bin bags that come with it are great however are expensive to be constantly using, we've used green bags for food from the council with no problems. After some trial and error we've found 50L bin bags from Tesco work just as well as the original bags. Any larger and the bin lid sometimes won't catch correctly and stay closed.

Stylish and functional
Expensive but well made and well-designed which is what you would expect from Joseph Joseph. Fits easily in my kitchen and looks good as well as being functional. The interior lidded pocket for wetter rubbish is a good idea and the filter does indeed seem to stop smells seeping out of the closed bin.

Absolute waste of money and flawed in its design.
Shocking amount of money for a sub standard product. My old Joseph and Joseph totem bin died (spring loaded button) and I’d had it for about 7 years so thought it was a good excuse to update. After 5 months of ownership, the lid broke and it was exactly how people said it would! There’s clearly a fault with the design. I don’t think it’s an upgrade compared to the previous one, people seem to think the light lid is an improvement instead of the metal frame, it’s not! It makes it lightweight and flimsy feeling. Probably making it prone to breakage, and god forbid you even put the tiniest amount ‘too much’ into the top bin, you’ll never close it…probably because it’s so flimsy. They’re also cutting more corners with the amount of materials used. There’s now no separation between the top and bottom bin apart from a frame, meaning if you put a piece of cardboard in the bottom and it doesn’t fit perfectly and springs up, the bottom bin gets stuck as anything in there can now flip up into the hole that the top bin compartment sits in. Who came up with that?! Someone who never recycles! I was already having a quiet word with myself for paying such an eye watering amount for a bin, but even more so now I’ve used it.

Bon concept, mais le couvercle ne s’ouvre plus. Amazon et le fabricant se renvoient la balle, aucun des deux ne veut respecter la garantie.

This is actually my second JJ Totem. I bought one about 10 years ago for my holiday apartment. The design has changed a bit but not too much. I think it's a fantastic product and I love the colours. I use the top bin for plastic recycling (Gelber Sacke) and the bottom for paper recycling (Altpapier). The small orange 'bio bin' is too small for our bio waste. I use it for old batteries and light bulbs to take to the recycling centre. The bin is big, but it comes really well packed and was still in perfect condition. It's obviously expensive. I bought it on a Prime Day and it was reduced a lot, and I think it is worth it.
