worked, but more difficult to use
worked for me, for o2 sensor replacement in an exhaust manifold (pre-cat). I did it singlehandedly, so can confirm that it’s possible, but I don’t recommend it. I destroyed four coils before getting it to start properly. You do need to push on the sleeve while turning the driver, and it helps to push the coil a quarter turn out and line it up with the start of the thread. Once it’s in a full turn, you never longer have to hold the compression sleeve, since the coil captures the driver, and the sleeve will get pushed back on its own. This is much more difficult to use than a helicoil or keensert.

Plastic Part Prevents This Thread Repair Kit From Being A Great Tool
I read a couple of reviews of this tool that said it was poor because the blue outer sleeve was made of plastic. The ad said that it was METAL, in capital letters, so I tried it. WRONG! It was plastic. The tool came with 6 thread repair inserts, I planned to re-thread 4 holes, and I had to buy additional inserts because I ruined 3 of them. The reason I gave this item a 3 star rating is because the tap works well. The instructions say to pack the threads with grease to keep debris from falling into the engine's cylinder. I was working on the cylinder head on a workbench but greased it anyway. Be forewarned! About a teaspoon of debris fell from each hole, in spite of using grease! The instructions say to thread the insert into the blue prewinder sleeve about 2 turns, then let it float while turning the driver part. Well there's no way that will work! The outer sleeve must be held TIGHTLY against the spark plug hole and not allowed to turn. I found that it took two hands to hold the sleeve while a second person turned the driver with a wrench. This is the ONLY way we could get it to work.I found that another brand of stainless steel coil inserts (I used Fastenal) were MUCH easier to use than the ones provided with the tool.

Great product for the price
Works great. Some tips for people who had issues, run tap through the plastic piece before using, use oil or grease! , carefully thread insert into plastic insert. Back installation tool out after every thread. This will keep the coil from binding up on installation tool.
