Vortex Crossfire HD 8x42 Binoculars

I rate these binoculars highly for several reasons. First, and no doubt most important to many, is the quality of the optics. Although I do not own a multi-thousand pair of binocs to compare these with I do own an assortment of binoculars, monoculars, and small scopes. Also have some older/vintage items that are high quality. These Crossfire binoculars impressed me with their clarity and overall performance in terms of quick focus and good field of view. I believe they are 8x and for me that is a good power to maintain a steady view of the subject at all ranges. A bonus is the Glasspak case/harness that was included with the purchase. I can see it being a very useful item if used for hunting or watching/spying from a fixed position over any lengthy period of time. All in all, am very pleased with this purchase and suspect that Vortex's higher end products are equally good quality and well worth their price.

These are the best binoculars I have ever owned

I bought these for a moose hunt. I tested them against the Hawk nature binoculars i have . one in 10x50 and one in 8x32. I need one inbeteween those. These were more crisp in view and i just love them.for the money. And felt less eye strain.and a bino harness. Get a pare.

Would give 10 stars if I could. First off, fantastic durable optics, but the warranty policy on these is truly insane - they will repair these for free even if it 100% your fault they broke. I can't think of a single other modern company with that good of a customer commitment. Truly a fantastic purchase!!!

I have 6 pairs of binoculars including 10x42 and 12x42. The vortex set I got was the 8x42. I’m a bow hunter so I’m always looking for that great set of binoculars. This vortex set is a little heavier than my others. And by the way the other sets I have are off brand and range in prices from 30 bucks up to 130 bucks. The first thing I noticed was the quality of the build and they way they fit my hands. They are just more comfortable compared to my other sets. What I did like about these was the bino harness that is included. I’ve already got a vortex bino harness and they usually cost right around 25-30 bucks. There was a neck strap that is really nice along with a lens cloth and lens caps. There is a cover that can be taken off on the back side of the focus wheel so that you can use these with a tripod. Now this is the part most won’t like. The quality of the optics and magnification. When I look through these binoculars and then my others I really don’t see much of a difference. The image is clear. When I go back and forth between this pair and my other binos I honestly can’t really tell a difference besides the feel in my hands. Now I’ve been told this by a lot of people but me being me I had to know first hand. They was right. One bonus with these vs other brands though is the warranty. There’s a lifetime warranty on vortex. So in all your pretty much paying for the name and warranty. Like I said I’ve always been told there’s not much of a difference up until you start paying those high prices but right now I’m just hunting whitetail and turkey so I don’t need something extravagant. Although maybe one day I can. Until then I’m completely happy with my vortex optics.

I received the item incomplete, without the harness straps, which made it complicated to hold the holder without the binoculars inside. However, the product appears to be in good condition. I bought 8x42 because someone who has the 10x42 said that they are not very good when you are looking for birds inside or into the forest. After all, the view is kind of darker. What I noted also with the 8x42, the view is kind of dark; it works perfectly in open areas, and with good light quality. I think that they are good for beginners, the quality and price are really good, and I've always heard a lot about how good the Vortex products are. I had used other brands but never owned my binoculars; these are my first ones, and I'm not active birding person, so I think that they'll work perfectly.

I gave these to my son who has recently taken up Byrd watching. We went out this morning and he actually told me how much he preferred these binoculars to the ones that he had had before. He says they’re easier to track the birds with especially when they’re flying because of the larger field of view. I’m very pleased I got these for him.

These do a pretty good job for bird watching for not a lot of money. I am satisfied.

Fast delivery and very pleased with the binoculars which were purchased as a second pair. I found the image to be bright and sharp. The shoulder strap is a good idea but don't like having the bag on the harness.
