A truly exceptionally made Grail Fountain Pen
Magnificent addition to any serious quality fountain pen collection. The Pelikan m1000 is definitely a collector’s sought out grail pen acquisition. The gold nib (mine was EF) is delightfully smooth and quite enjoyable.

Almost perfect pen definitely go a size down and get the pen. Overall, smooth and looks amazing but the nib is cut broader than other pens. I purchased an EF version but writes like a Japanese Medium. Love the pen nevertheless.

Underrated design and aesthetics, bneautiful and refined. Soft, buttery nib that literally "sings"
The pen is great. However the vendor sent me a version different from what was advertised. I ordered the Black/Gold M1000 with EF nib and received the Green Striated version with EF nib instead. At first I thought I would exchange it, but the more I looked at it, the more it grew on me so I decided to keep it. The M1000 is the top of the line production fountain pens from Pelikan's Souveran (sovereign) series. This is in line with Montblanc's Meisterstuck line of pens. Having said that, the quality and construction of this pen is up there with the MB 149 with some exceptions. The resin (plastic) of the barrel feels harder, colder, but it is extremely well machined. The piston filling mechanism is the best that I have encountered on any pen, even Montblanc. The piston turning knob is smooth, silky, and properly damped. The ink capacity is very generous. The highlight, however, is the nib. I did not expect this nib to be so soft and flexy. (this is not a vintage flex, so don't use it as such) It's really quite something. The nib is very smooth and the feed is very generous. Although smooth, the nib "sings" on certain papers/ink combinations. Some people enjoy this, I do not. Don't get me wrong, I love some feedback on a nib, but this doesn't do it for me. However the pen has its uses in that I can really squeeze some line variation out of it on occasion. I use it almost like a flex-nib, and dabble in Spencerian a bit, but it's not meant to be used that way and as such I take care not to use too much pressure. Another great plus, is that the nib unscrews as a unit, and can be swapped out with other Pelikan M1000 nib units for those that want to change writing behavior. The size of the pen is huge. It is the same size or larger than the MB 149. I have large hands, with thin long fingers, and I find this size perfect for long extended writing or doodling sessions. Overall, the quality is extremely high, and even the nib, which I don't love, is excellent. I prefer the feel of the MB nibs for fast writing, because they are stiff nibs. This one is just too soft for normal writing however it's great for occasions when addressing cards, or writing love letters, etc. You can turn out some beautiful writing if you know the limits of the nib and know how to write Spencerian or even lightly-shaded Copperplate. Keep in mind that the nib is 18K, and will not spring back as well as a 14k nib, so if you spring the nib, it's done. A large pen, luxurious in feel, however not quite as elegant as the classic cigar shape of the Montblanc Meisterstuck line. For those with smaller hands, I would recommend the M800 as being the perfect, and I mean perfect, everyday writer. If starting out with a top of the line pen, I would suggest you start with the M800 instead, simply because the nib characteristics of the M1000 need some finesse and experience to get the most out of it.

Used Like New...
Excellent fountain pen, but Amazon Warehouse cheated me and sold me an expensive pen in "Like New" condition full of scratches and ink residue on the nib and reservoir.

All I'd hoped for.
I've many pens, all are good in different ways. This is my favorite for writing comfort, requires the lightest touch of them all to write. A beautiful feedback of nib on paper, my nib was extra fine, as my writing is small and intricate. I love the wetness and nib grind. Feels very comfortable to me, I've no problem with longer sessions with it, simply because it feels so good to write with. Get this if you're drawn to it and your heart moves you irresistibly towards it. The nib is soft. The green is serene in effect, and I love that harmony with the eye. This is treasured by me and gives me great joy. Was skipping here and there, when first inked, as I re-inked and kept writing, the problem sorted itself out.

This is a great fountain pen.
I have had several high end pens, all of which were disappointing, especially a Mont Blanc! THIS pen is perfect. It writes very well, never skips, and doesn't leak. Pricey, but well worth the money.

The Pelikan M1000 fountain pen is the best in my collection
The Pelikan M1000 fountain pen is the best in my collection. The extra fine nib writes very smooth. The combination of M1000 filled with iroshizuku kon-peki ink and writing on Calirfontane 90g/sq m or Moleskine paper has worked well for me. The pen has a rich ink flow and works well as I tend to write quickly.

Other than that what’s not to like!
Insufficient instructions on the filling process.

Saludos.
