I am newly serious to F1 - as in I have been a casual fan for decades, but decided this year that I wanted to really dive into the sport as a serious fan. My brother has been a serious fan for years and I needed a way to catch up on the basics. This was a great introduction to F1 behind the scenes. My only complaint, this text has not been updated in 10 years and it's not available on the Kindle (my guess is there is some correlation there). It goes into the cars (though needs 2016 update with all new engines), the teams, the drivers, the fans, some of the tracks (but here is another area where updates are needed as F1 has added a couple of tracks). A bit surprising it has not been updated with all the growth in world wide F1 interest and two Xbox One games on the market, XBox F1 2015 (and the soon to be released Xbox F1 2016). Maybe it's in the pipeline. FYI - This seems to be a British publication - my copy shipped from the UK. That's okay, it's a British sport - so it makes it more authentic?! DUMMIES PUBLISHER REQUEST: Publisher - please update this text - the sport is ever evolving. There is even an entirely new off-shoot called Formula-E with all electric cars!

At one level, the book is a good basic summary of F1 racing -- the cars, history, tracks, teams and drivers, tips on attending a race, and some of the strategies involved. If you're a F1 junkie like I am, its all good. More objectively though, the book is dated... with info current up to about 2003/04, which is many respects is ancient history for F1 (new different changed teams/drivers/tracks/rules now), so if I was just getting into F1 as a viewer, this book would be really confusing since so much of the info is out of date.

Outdated and irrelevant

This took an eternity to get here but at least the book was fully intact and has no flaws. It is as if I brought this book brand new.

Before I heard about the movie "Rush" , I thought I should get some background on the sport of F1 before I watched the film. I learned a lot about the sport and how important how every person on a racing team plays a vital role if each team wants to continually compete on the circut year after year.

Very disappointing. Only current through 2002. Twenty years out of date. Voluminous driver details but totally absent of F1 racing rules and useful beginner info.

文字通りＦ１とは何かを初心者向けに解説した本。 Ｆ１カーの構造解説とかけっこう本格的に書かれていて これ１冊でＦ１が一通り理解できる。「何で女性ドライバー はいないの？」とか豆知識ミニコラムもたくさんあって 面白い。Ｆ１好きな方は内容になじみがあるこういう本で リーディングの勉強というのもいいかも。

The book is totally out of date with information only up to 2002. F1 has moved on significantly since then It advertises that the book has colour pictures but that is only the cover all illustrations and pictures in the book are black and white even the page showing the different colour lights used are black and white, Complete waste of money

It is a good book for beginners but be ready information included here is really outdated so you need to get info about the last few seasons yourself, especially the names of people who are currently in FIA or F1.

Ten year old book ... My mistake for thinking it was current. Not recommended. Too old to be of any value.
