Precise & Flawless
I had seen The Doors on YouTube in two performances done for Danish TV & I really wanted to get those & finally learned they were on this DVD. The two songs I absolutely loved were When the Music is Over and Unknown Soldier - both of these performances are so precise & flawless they are awesome! You really get a good look at Jim Morrison - who appears totally in control & clear eyed - and the singing and instruments blend together to create beautiful music. Back Door Man was another good one. The copy of the Soft Parade on this DVD is not good however, there is a much better clearer version of it on The Doors Collection DVD which I recommend highly, which also contains some neat extras (Ray's UCLA student films, portion of Densmore's one-act play, Robbie's new version of The End) And if you'd like a look at Ray & Robbie's existing band (now Riders on the Storm) check out The Doors of the 21st Century LA Woman Live DVD - it's AWESOME, from a concert done in 8/2003 in Wantagh, NY with Ian Astbury singing- though no one's voice can replace Morrison's - some of the songs just belong to him & The Doors w/o question. I only wish John Densmore was still playing with them - his drums are missed!

Love The Doors
This is a 2 hr DVD featuring vintage Doors' stage performances spaning several phases of the band's evolution. Along the way you get insightful dialogue from surviving Doors' members(Krieger/Densmore/Manzarek) along with former manager Danny Sugerman. Their discussion include topics such as Morrison, The Miami Incident, meanings of certain famous Doors' songs, etc.The first featured performance in Toronto showcased a young Doors' group that was beginning to form its national identity. I found interesting their choice of attire compared to their latter incarnations; definately a lot more casual later on.The Denmark performance is in black & white and showcases a Doors' band at the peak of their fame. They perform some of their most well known songs and Jim's got that classic "rock-star" look with his leather pants and all.For the New York PBS performance, Jim is fully in his bearded, older look along with a more subdued persona. The band is also interviewed on stage by a "hippie" looking host who seems to admire their music.I thoroughly enjoyed this DVD from beginning to end. This is my first time watching these performances, which I found to be both entertaining and inspiring. For me, I especially love the band's PBS performance. Overall though, this DVD is a nice treat for both old and new Doors' fans.

Fantastic chronicle of the Doors performances
Fantastic chronicle of the Doors performances. The song "Wishful Sinful" is given, which is a Doors rarity, from "Soft Parade". Great performance. The clips of Ray, John and Robby give insight into the Doors songwriting process. This is a must for Doors fans.

The original Doors
While all segments are well worth viewing, it is the Toronto TV performance that is most special. Here are the Doors, fresh, in full "art song" mode, before their fame with the mega-hit of Light My Fire, and before the (relative) decline into a more standard rock band format. A great performance before a live audience of their most defining song.

When All Else Fails...
I got this DVD for the PBS show done after the Miami concert. For me that was worth the price alone. I would say this is for more of the "serious" Doors fan. You won't hear "Light My Fire", but if you want to see the possible only time the band performed "The Soft Parade", with Jim, you won't be disappointed!!!!
