A reasonable price for gentle hand strengthening work.
This yellow soft putty is just right to begin building hand strength. I started with it when I had hand therapy for complicated advance arthritis, and after about 7 weeks of multiple sessions a week graduated to the medium. Not having been as faithful with the therapy exercises as I should be, the medium strength putty was painfully "tough", so I ordered the yellow. It is just right for me at this point in time.I add 6 marbles to the 6 oz. container of putty as they had in the therapy putty. A larger container of putty would take more marbles. After you finish your five minutes of kneading the putty with one hand, you use your thumb and first finger to pinch out the marbles and that is part of the strength building process also. This is not the theraputty brand but I feel it is as good quality.

I use it at my desk at work. I'm hoping the exercise prevents RSI from computer work. I thought putty would be better than those spring things since it can exercise the fingers individually with more natural motions. It's great when I'm reading documentation and stuff -- takes no thought and I don't annoy coworkers like those pen spinner people.I started with purple and blue strength and now on gray. I think they weaken over time and use, so I might buy gray again although I wish they made harder ones. My left hand is pretty strong now haha. I had bought another brand in a medium strength a while back, and over time it weakened enough to become almost gum like sticky and unusable. Anyway you should probably replace periodically since the putty will collect dirt and fibers from your clothes.

Excellent product if needed
My HMO sells the same item at their health and education Dept for $6.00 for medium soft 4 oz. Mano taxes either. Will keep. But if I need any more will buy from my HMO. If you do not have an HMO that sells this product than this is the same as the Hand therapist wants me to use to increase the strength in my left hand hand that I had 3 trigger fingers operated on. Does give my hand a good work out.

Medium Putty for Triggering
Works great for my hand. I use at occupational therapy and he suggested me to get medium Putty, which is really helping me to do therapy at home. Only thing when I received it the container of Putty it was broken. Would suggest to send it in strong protected package.

A good form of exercise for stiff, arthritic hands
My hand doctor recommended the putty for a way to regain some range of motion in my arthritic hands and it works well. You have to be faithful as with any form of exercise therapy but I do feel my hand strength has improved and the stiffness is somewhat better. You can a much greater range of motion using the putty over the soft squishy foam balls.

Very good product
This was too stiff for my injured hand. It says extra-firm..... and that it is. I should have gotten the medium. It's a good product, but my hand is not healed enough. In a few months, it will be perfect.

Great OT for kids.
My 2-1/2 year old grandson has OT for right hand fine motor skills (he stroked at 4 days old) and his therapist recommended this product. She hid various shapes and sizes of buttons in the putty and he has to find and remove them and then push them back in - all leading with his right hand and left hand assist only. He LOVES this - it is a game with him. When I go to see him it's one of the first things he pulls off the shelf for playtime with Grandma. Even if a child doesn't have any type of handicap this would be a good game to help with fine motor development.

Good stuff.
This is the way to buy hand putty. One pound chunks allow for far more varied routines of hand exercise. The putty is somewhat oily - I usually end up washing my hands after using it. It's not at all unpleasant - just don't want to have the oil end up on everything I touch afterwards. After nearly daily use, this putty is standing up to the abuse. Good stuff.
