Love Susan Anderson’s patterns
I love Susan Anderson’s designs and bought the book. I doubt that I’ll use it since most of the hat designs seem to be based on the same concept of a basic cap. Cute pictures.

Love, love Rainbow Marley
The Rainbow Marley is a hit with me. It's a great stash buster and colors are easily adjusted for gender identification, if desired. The topper takes almost as long to knit as the hat, but worth the time and effort. I've made two already without spending an extra penny for yarn. It works up well in cotton as well as wool and color combinations are so much fun to select. Take the author's advice to cast on and bind off tightly to make the topper curly. My only complaint is that my book's pages are not consecutive - pages 49 through 64 were inserted after page 32. Thankfully all pages are there, just not in the right order.

Cute book, good for beginners
I've knit two hats out of this book. The hats are very cute although mostly they are variations on one or two themes. One of the nice things about this book is that the author uses the same yarns for most of the hats. This allows you to knit more than one style hat with the same yarn if you have some leftovers. However, if you are a very experienced knitter who is looking for variety... this is not for you. I would definitely get this as a gift for my friends who are just learning to knit. The instructions at the beginning are good and since the hats are similar and use the same yarn, a beginner would get lots of practice.

So Cute!
I love this book! The patterns are easy to follow and there's very few errors. There's a nice "how to" section if you're a new knitter or need a refresher on some different techniques. I've made several of the hats in the book, both for my kids and as gifts. They always turn out just like the picture, are the size they're intended to be, and most importantly, are practical for young kids. The hats got comments from people every time my kids wore them, and I even had people ask me to make some for their kids. There's also a nice variety, from the very simple, to really decorative. There's even a lot of cute choices for boys, which can be hard to find. My only wish is there would be instructions for making the hats for adults!

Itty Bitty Hats
I am a new self taught knitter. This book has been a wonderful knitting experience for me. I learned how to knit on double pointed needles with this book. All the patterns are very clear and easy for a new knitter. I have knitted half the hats in this book so far. The hats are so cute everybody wants one. Susan B Anderson has a blog: [...] and there is also a group on Ravelry [...] called Itty-Bitty Knits. On both of these sites you can contact Susan with any questions. She also has tutorials on her blog. She is sweet, talented and very friendly. If I could only recommend one book on knitting this would be the one.Happy knitting!Womanwithstixs

Really cute designs, but hard for a novice
Got this for my mom who is a novice knitter. She LOVED the designs but is having a difficult time following the instructions (she's better at learning by doing than learning things by the book). Probably not a problem for somebody with more experience knitting. I have a friend who bought this book as well and has made some really cute hats that look great. There are a number of pages in the front that explain basic knitting techniques which I imagine would be useful to a beginner.

Uses Curved needles
I was looking for hats I could get knitted up by a relative to use in my baby portrait photography business. On this score I was disappointed in the selection. I had hoped for at least one long pointed 'pixie' hat with a tassel on the end or maybe a Peruvian style with ear-flaps and ties but nothing even close. In the end none of the patterns could be tired however as the book fails to highlight that all designs require circular needles. Not being a knitter I did not realise this would be an issue. I raise it to help others avoid the same error. If you are comfortable with or want to learn the use of curved needles are are not looking for the cutsy hats you see used in newborn photos though this is not a bad book

i was hoping for some nice christmas hats but the ones here were at best ...
Its ok, the book is american so you may needto substitute some yarns, the patterns are unusal but not to my taste, on the whole i'm not that impressed, i was hoping for some nice christmas hats but the ones here were at best average, there are alot of flower pattern hats but not that unique, all in all had i seen more pictures i wouldn't of bothered.

Lovely eye-catching designs
Some really beautiful hats in here, though virtually all knitted on circular needles, which are easier to work on than they look.
