Not Swiss quality
Too bad. I didn't mind the high price for an item that's supposedly Swiss. Very attractive, beautiful ringer sound. Too bad it doesn't work. Sent back for refund. It's a Swiss company, but made in a large Asian country where most of our goods now come from. Quality is clearly not possible when 8-yr-olds working 16-hour days are putting it together. How many stars do you give an item that fails at the only thing it's supposed to do? As much as I love everything about this item, I have to give it one star so that others won't be buying it unwarned.

A SECOND CHANCE
I had to return the first timer I purchased because of a malfunction. (Amazon's return and replacement process was most efficient and expedient). Here's the problem: I'd set the timer according to directions, would hear it ticking, yet, when looking at it later, noticed that the dial had not moved. Luckily, I noticed the malfunction in time and was able to use my microwave timer instead. This malfunction happened several times and my baked goods could have been disasters. I have recently received a replacement timer. So far, it is working properly though I am somewhat skeptical that it may also malfunction.I love the weight and design of the timer; however, I hate the fact that you must first turn the dial to 60 and then set it at your required use time. I also think it is over-priced. Should my replacement timer malfunction, I will not seek to replace it with yet another Dallas Piazza Retro Timer, Art Deco.

Looks great
When I first got this timer, it worked great. But now, sometimes it stops and I don't always know it so I have to use a back up timer or watch the clock. It usually starts again if I shake it but sometimes stops again. It looks great though, I just wish it worked a little more reliably.

Retro Timer--a good choice
I have owned and discarded too many plastic light-weight timers. I could not be happier with my new Dalla Piazza Retro Timer. It is attractive, solidly built, easy to read and to clean, and the signal bell is just loud enough.

Worked 2-3 Times Barely. Avoid this timer.
At first you'd think this was a well-built timer- delivering on claims of quality construction and finishes. However, the beauty is certainly skin deep - the timer function barely works out of the box, and now fails to chime at all when set. We've nearly ruined mulitple meals but at this point no longer count on the product to perform it's singular function. Don't get lured in by the attractive retro charm or the promise of durable construction - unless you're looking for an attractive paperweight.

Best Timer !
This timer is great. It is very substantial and well made. I did not want to use a battery as I am trying to be greener and many of the digital timers I looked at used camera or non rechargeable ones. I can hear the timer over the sounds of the Daytona 500 so it is loud enough. The non slip bottom is a bonus. Well worth the money in my opinion.

looks nice, but looks are...
The timer is a cool looking retro timer. Problem is it rarely works. The timer worked for about a month and then it would only go off 50% of the time, now it is down to going off 10% of the time. Have to trash it.

Made in China, not Switzerland. Stopped working on second day.
The timer stopped working on the second day. I follow the instruction to turn the switch up to 60 minutes and then back to the desired time, but it does not move.Note that the timer is made in China, as is clearly stated on the packaging. "Swiss" apparently applies only to the brand.
