Nice while it works
I bought this item in September 2011 after researching ab machines for several months. I selected it because of the handle bar design and because I am short (5'2") and I thought that the Ab Coaster might be (literally) too much of a stretch. It was easy to put together despite very minimal instructions. I started to use the machine in late September--it was HARD! You need a fair bit of arm strength to pull yourself up (look at the arms on the guy in the YouTube video). In the beginning, I could barely do 20 reps at one time. It took 3 weeks of daily use to build up to about 120-130 reps/day, which was where I maxed out even though I do 30 minutes of cardio daily. This represented about 5 minutes/day of use. My husband also started to use the machine in much the same way. I didn't feel or notice any abdominal effects until I was able to do at least 80 reps/day. And this is not a machine to select if you want to burn calories--120 reps doesn't even burn 20 calories according to the electronic counter that is attached to the machine. Between the two of us, we used the machine for less than 10 minutes/day but consistently from October through mid-November. We were just short of the 90-day warranty when it broke. The slider no longer moved up/down, and it sounded like something was loose inside of the center piece. More about us--we're not big people (125 lbs and 160 lbs respectively). We have an exercise bike and elliptical trainer, each of which we've used daily for many years. This machine is simply designed (a plus) but relatively flimsy. In any case, we contacted SunTech and learned that the 90-day warranty only covers parts; to receive a refund the machine has to be returned within 30 days. After several emails back and forth, they sent us a new set of wheels. (An aside: I would rate them a "5" for good customer service). My husband had to figure out how to take the machine apart to locate the wheels and install new ones. As of now, that has fixed the problem. Our rating of a "2" is based on an average of a "1" for durability and a "3" for how it works when things are going well. By the way, we haven't ever tried the adjustment to exercise the oblique muscles. In retrospect, I would have purchased the AbCoaster instead despite the higher cost, since it looks like a more sturdy piece of equipment.

SUPER FAST SHIPPING!
This arrived almost ten days faster than it was scheduled to arrive, SCORE! With all of the gyms closed, my husband and I wanted an alternative to back-stressing ab exercises. This was VERY easy to assemble, fits easily in limited space. It's more compact than a bicycle. The memory foam knee pads make using it comfortable, even for the overweight figure, or, those with bad knees. There's almost no pressure on the legs at all. This product is also ideal for women with a weak upper body, or, very large chest. Floor exercises put a tremendous strain, for the large busted, on the neck and lower back. With this, there is zero weight being pulled on those areas, another HUGE benefit. The handle bar assembly swivels, to provide additional types of ab exercises, making it very easy to switch, while in motion, from one ab group to the next.In closing, this thing is genius, and, it arrives REALLY fast! Amazon predicted about ten to fourteen days, from time the order was placed until it was due to my door. We received it in three days.I highly, highly recommend this company, this product, for your quarantine fitness needs. It's a winner!

Simplicity Rules
Simple mechanics and few moving parts means less to go wrong but it still works great. It has two arm positions, one gripping the top loop and resting the elbows on the handles and the other gripping the handles. Gripping the handles requires much more strength in the arms so you can increase the challenge if you are up to it. The first position should allow anyone to use the machine comfortably. I'm 5'3" and many machines don't fit me. This one worked fine with no back strain at all. The only moving parts are the carriage and limited rotation on the handle bars which is accomplished not by gears which may bind or break but by a simple slot that allows the base of the bar to be turned both ways. The only possible drawback I found was in using the machine with the handles turned sharply. This caused me to put sidewards pressure on the carriage which does not turn. I encountered some binding that could result in wear on the roller over time. If you want to use it that way you might want to contact the company and purchase a spare roller. Still, for the price, ease of assymbly (under 15 minutes without even refering to the instructions-tools are included), and portability of this device, you can't beat it at twice the price.

Definitely a must buy. Especially for beginners!
Okay, so Ive had the machine for about two weeks and Ive lost one inch on my waste. I use it continuously. It took me a day to get adjusted to how to use it because I've never had a machine like this and I don't use anything like this at the gym. I would have given it five stars except, like I said I've only had it about two weeks. I am concerned that I may wear out the padding where the knees rest; also, the machine is not as sturdy as I think it should be. I do not think it will fall apart, but I am not certain of how long it will last if I continue to use it twice a day for a hour or so, like I do now. For now, I love it!

Happy with purchase
I really like this exercise machine. I already feel my abs tighter. And yes i do my best to eat healthy not perfect just healthy. Because if I super sized all my meals, no exercise machine would work. It's easy to use, but hard enough to feel my muscles working. I hate ab work I can run and dance all day, but dread working on my abs. With this machine I don't need to spend a lot of time to feel my core getting worked. It's a no brainer when I'm tired I only do a few reps when I feel good I do more reps. Regardless I feel a like I'm getting a good work out. I had read other comments on this machine before purchasing it. There were many comments on it being flimsy and needing parts replaced soon after using it. But I have not had any issues with it and I use it regularly. I like the way it's built. As long as you don't let it collect dust in your home you will feel positive results.
