new Lovely book
I just got it and started to learn :P I enjoy it because it starts with jazz history and helps to discover some jazz musicians and gives you more knowledge about jazz... It includes CD with 96 Tracks in it some are for just listening some for practice... Book itself is very comfortable starts on beginner level and goes to more advance levels. gives you knowledge about scales and soloing also includes information about chords... I will advise you to buy this book and also if you are very beginner and don't know how to read Tablature and notes you should start with "How to Read Music a Step By Step Guide with Cd by Rod Fogg" so buy both and be happy with new books :Pyou also can google how to read tabulature to make some economy.p.sif you will get "Blues guitar handbook" and will learn in parallel mode you will get far better knowledge... I have just got it and actually worth it.

Best package ever
I've bought a ton of instruction manuals/cds for blues, jazz, and rock guitar (kind of a junkie for them), but the Jazz Guitar Handbook for me is the best of the bunch. It's progressive instruction and logical sequence is excellent. You begin playing music right away. And it's not "Twinkle, Twinkle" or "Jingle Bells", there are compositions that are short and learnable, and can be embellished to take you to advanced levels. I'm only in the part on jazz chords right now, but I have scanned ahead, and I love the direction the rest of the book goes. I'm looking for an instructor to use this as the manual for my course of study. You don't really need a teacher with it, but for me a little extra guidance would make the whole study just that much more effective.

Would Definitely Recommend To A Friend!
This is an awesome book. All of the scales and arpeggios are fun to play and in tab format. They also have a few pages before each tab explaining the beat or something, I don't read it. I find this book helpful to warm up with fresh licks before I start recording my own ideas. Although there is stuff in there for everyone like beginners and someone more advanced.

Excellent!
An excellent introduction to the world of jazz guitar playing. Good narrative, notation, tablature and a CD companion to the lessons in the book. On top of that, the book also contains sections on the history of jazz guitar, guitar manufacturing specifically directed toward the jazz guitarist. In all respects, a useful and enjoyable treatment of jazz guitar that will help expand your knowledge and your playing of jazz guitar.

First Class Instruction
Before buying the book, I listened to Rod Fogg's recordings and he is indeed a competent player. However, the man is a superstar teacher. If you want to learn jazz without going crazy, this book is for you. It's possibly the very best of its type ever published. Augmented with Frank Vignola's instruction, you too can take the stage. Now go practice.

Outstanding book
Was looking for a good, clear book on learning jazz guitar, something that wasn't as dense and intimidating as some previously purchased, but which had a wealth of material. I found it in this book. Beautifully produced, easy to follow, full of info that will continue to help for many days ahead.

Great purchase!
Great book, I'm an intermediate guitar player, still with a lot to learn, but so far this book has been great and challenging and despite a hick up with a lost shipment, both Amazon and the seller were very helpfull in resolving it. As always, it's a pleasure buying from Amazon.

This is a beautifully produced book
This is a beautifully produced book, in hardback with spiral binding, quality paper and secure CD storage. It is a joy to work from. I really liked the "soft start" without too much bewildering theory and technique in the first chapters. If you are moderately experienced in pop-rock guitar this book will give you a good introduction to jazz styles, chords, progressions and soloing. If you get through this book you will have a head start when following on with some of the more advanced jazz books. If, not, you will still have a beautiful coffee-table book which your friends will admire!

Crappy service good book
The books content is great but unfortunately I was sent a second hand one with a rip down the spine of the hardcover so felt a little bit ripped off paying full price for damaged goods. I suppose sending it back was an option but having to waste time re wrapping and going to the post office I would rather spend my time playing the guitar and reading the book would be nice to get some money back if anybody from the company actually reads this.

A Good Introduction To Jazz Guitar
I'm still working my way through this book and it seems to cover all the ground I was looking for. The spiral bound format makes it easy to follow each page clearly. The CD makes it easy to understand and follow what is on the tabs. Perhaps my one criticism is that it started off a bit too basic - but that hardly matters as you can skip that part. All in all, a good guide.

This is a decent jazz book. It start from the basics so at the beginning it's very boring. I think it should have gone deeper and target more experienced guitarists. The main disappointment is that there is no link to download the tracks as MP3. It's 2017 and many people don't use CD players anymore.

Good Place To Start
Although I have played guitar for many years, Jazz has always been a style I could never quite master or appreciate. However, this excellent book looks set to change all that. Easy to follow and with its indispensable CD this could easily make me a Jazz guitarist much quicker than I might have hoped. Superb and thoroughly recommended.
