It works, Improved Mood and Sleep
After using this through the darkest days of winter. I can say that it supported a better mood and energy. I believe it even helped me regulate my schedule better.

Good product
Looks good. Works good. Aesthetically pleasing and not too heavy, but solid enough.

Verified with AH-300 light meter: 15,000 lx Average, 4000K CCT
I bought this lamp and decided to measure it with my AH-300 lux meter to see what it actually delivers. At normal sitting distance, the average LUX across the main exposure area was around 15,000lx. Color temperature measured close to 4000K, which feels appropriate for daily light therapy — bright, neutral, not overly blue. What I appreciated most during testing was being able to see not just the center reading, but the overall distribution. The AH-300 makes it easy to record multiple points and calculate the average, so you get a more realistic picture instead of relying on a single peak number. If you’re comparing therapy lamps, having a reliable meter like the AH-300 really changes how you evaluate them. Specs on the box don’t always reflect real use distance or uniformity. In this case, the lamp performs well — and the measurements confirm it.

Careful in unpackaging the product and in it's use. Slow is smooth and recommended
Be very careful how you take the inner box out of the actual product box. You would be best to do this on the floor or on a protective sheet on your bed. The manner in which the light is packaged will slide out the side readily if you cut the tape of the flaps. Hopefully I am not over reacting but there is no message on the box that says this side up? I regret not leaving delivery instructions for the Amazon delivery person. This is the second time they blocked the door which swings outward. To me it's common sense to put the product on the ground below the raised concrete where the door opens out. I did not mean to be negative in my appraisal of the delivery person but unprofessional is the only option that was remotely close to the placement of the package blocking the door. Going forward I need to specify because in today's day and age of porch pirates arguably the delivery driver was warranted in placing the package out of view on the stoop. The product is easy to assemble per the instructions. The statistic that makes this therapy light worth keeping is the claim in the instructions that 85% of the people benefit from this therapy light. In the winter it is estimated that most people over 50 don't get enough vitamin D from sunlight. This may refer to UV light. This lamp provides visible spectrum light? But throughout my life I have had the afternoon doldrums. In addition to using the lamp for the recommended minimum 30 minutes in the morning before 9am one can use the lamp later in the day for a slump in energy for an additional 15minutes. So hopefully if I don't have true seasonal affectiveness daylight disorder or SADD I may still benefit from the lamp for other reasons and receive a clinical response. Plus a 5 year warranty from the date of delivery per the instructions is a vote of confidence for the product. Yale University did a review of this lamp and several others as providing a clinical response. Even if a lamp was not reviewed they commented that size of the lamp and a minimum of 7,000 lux of light at a maximum distance of 12 to 14 inches may still elicit a clinical response. So in closing reading and carefully following the directions is in ones best interest including consulting ones physician regarding its use.

I love it!
I can’t speak to the durability (I see that they have a warranty, so hopefully they’ll honor that if the durability issues are true), but I’ve had no issues so far a few weeks in. This light has been a game changer for me in the morning. I really struggle with mornings during the winter season when it’s darker later. It has felt impossible to wake up. Having this light has made mornings tolerable and has made a noticeable difference in how I feel in the morning. It’s easy to use, the light quality is good. It’s not an eyesore necessarily, but it’s huge! So make sure you have a space for it. I also think it made my pothos grow more, interestingly enough.

I wanted to like this product, but poor quality and poor customer service. Excellent until it breaks.
I wanted to like this product. As a light therapy device, it meets the recommended criteria of 10,000 LUX at a reasonable specified distance, height adjustable, overhead angled light, zero/low UV, non-LED bulbs (LED potentially unsafe at that strength), glare and flicker-free, and a large light box (to ensure you are still in the treatment zone if you move your head). Unfortunately, it is of poor quality and the Carex customer service is terrible. The light worked great for about 4 days, then one bulb died. I carefully followed the instructions provided to remove the plastic cover and remove the bulb. It was challenging to remove the plastic cover and then I was unable to remove the dead bulb. It was stuck and I feared breaking glass if I used any more force. I was able to remove one of the other bulbs, so I know I was doing it correctly. Over the course of an entire week, I tried calling Carex customer service several times a day during their business hours. No answer on their consumer customer service line and no one returned my voicemail messages. After may attempts, I finally reached a customer service rep on their medical professional line. She said she was brand new at the job and the only thing she could do was offer to email me the same instruction manual I already had. I asked to speak to a technical support person and she said she would get back to me. It's been several more days and no word. Still no return calls from my other voicemail messages. I then finally again reached a rep at their medical professional line. The next woman couldn't provide help either. I asked about their warranty and the woman would not provide any concrete information. If it wasn't for Amazon's return policy, I would be out several hundred dollars. Fortunately, this product died within the 30 day return window with Amazon. I had hoped to get some trouble shooting help from the manufacturer, but customer service was terrible. I would have just replaced the dead bulb if I could have removed the old bulb. I would have retuned the unit for a new one if I trusted Carex would stand by their product should it become defective outside the Amazon 30 day return window. I don't know of another manufacturer of light therapy boxes that meets the recommended tech specs by the research. Hopefully another manufacturer will improve on the design and build quality and stand behind their products with a clear warranty and excellent customer service. As an added "bonus", I am unable to disassemble the giant device to fit back into it's original packaging. Plastic components snapped together in the initial assembly, but now there is not a way to take them apart. So I will be shipping this product back in a larger box I will go out to buy and hope for the best. Terrible.

Better than the sun!
I bought this product after researching SAD light therapy and noticed that this brand is recommended by medical professionals. I live in Rochester NY which is rated #10 on the list of overcast cities with Anchorage Alaska being #1. Being middle aged now I have noticed that within the past few years the winters are getting harder to bear. I've also noticed that each time it gets to the beginning of March, I get this weird pressure behind my eyes, insomnia, lots of fatigue etc. Its probably a lot to do with seasonal allergies as well, but also I notice that I feel really irritated by the increasing light. I figured out on my own that if I'm feeling irritated by the early spring light its probably due to the shock of it because the months prior are very dark and typically I am the most happy by mid summer July and august. So by March I am like a prisoner just released from a dungeon and seeing light for the first time. I figured I would try to even out the light exposure for myself year round with this device. It arrived today and I was excited to see that it was really easy to put together, it only takes one screw and some patience while carefully sliding the lamp in place. Please ignore the reviews complaining about the brightness if it were any brighter you wouldnt be able to see a thing. Its large like the size of a monitor but the size seems necessary to get the full effect.upon turning it on and sitting for a bit I noticed an affect immediately bringing memories of sitting on a beach right back to me. Though it was a sunny day today and very bright , sitting under this lamp for 20 minutes made me feel much happier than sitting next to the window and I think it has to do with the way the colors in the light are carefully calculated. After one use I feel like I just went on a vacation to Florida. And, instead of napping after work I am up doing more housework . I never rave about products but I am just so pleased with this. I plan to give it as a gift at Christmastime and only regret that I didn't buy it sooner. That said, I do feel that if you dont live in an overcast area and dont feel your mood change according to the calendar like clockwork as I do, this may not work for you or you may have other issues requiring different treatment. But if you truly suffer from the darkness this thing is definitely worth every cent.

It saved my life and marriage
I have suffered from SAD for about 10 years. Ever since I moved from the East Coast to Wisconsin, I suffer from depression starting at around early October lasting until April-ish. I have tried pretty much everything I could think of, except for prescription psychotropic medication. I've done supplements, herbal supplements, homeopathy, consistent exercise throughout the entire winter, dietary changes (several different types over the years, and even a Philips GoLite Blue. The blue light never worked, no matter how consistent I was. NOTHING worked. I should note that I was never dangerously depressed, but just "blah" from Fall to Spring. I finally caved and saw my GP and discussed my depression. Though he initially wanted to put me on prescription medications, I expressed my concerns and that I'd be willing to try ANYTHING first prior to prescription medications, if he could think of anything. He mentioned to give light therapy a try. I got a prescription for a light box, and contacted my durable medical equipment provider. It didn't work out with insurance and I wasn't able to get it through them, but I did learn of what they were going to give to me with a doctor's order, and I tracked it down on Amazon. I ended up purchasing this privately because I was starting to feel the depression coming on. I literally felt AMAZING within about 3 days. The following week, I really noticed the change when I was driving with the sunroom open on a sunny day, and found that I was actually smiling for no reason, just smiling taking in the beauty of the day and weather! I haven't felt that good in years! Since then, I've used it since 9/21/16, about 2 months. I notice that when I take several days off, I feel my mood shift. I also noticed that it reset my sleep pattern literally within 2 days. I don't need an alarm clock to wake up now. If I use my lamp at 5AM, I literally awaken at 5AM whether I want to or not. This is great for consistency for work, but bad on weekends when I want to sleep in. Also bad for nights I stay up late for something, because I'm up at 5AM regardless! Stay up to 1AM playing video games, I'm up at 5AM! Kinda sucks, but I can't fault the machine for that... It's also large, and you will need a sturdy place to keep it because it's heavy too. But it needs to be big I believe to work effectively. I wish it had less plastic around the base and more metal. It's already heavy, so I could deal with a little more if it were all metal. I also wish it used LEDs instead of old-school florescent lights. But maybe LEDs wouldn't be as effective? My blue light was small and LED (still bright though), but it wasn't effective... I would HIGHLY recommend this for Seasonal Affective Disorder/Major Depression. This literally saved my life and marriage, and I'm finding life up north bearable now, versus dreading it every Fall. Avoid the smaller lamps, and those gimmick blue lights. They do nothing.
