REXING Smart Hardwire Kit Mini-USB Port V1 V1P WiFi Version V3 and S1 Dash Cams

I installed this in my car for my dashcam and it works great. It was fairly simple to install. The instructions can be found on youtube and a short video on the Amazon description. I also used chat GPT to help me figure out which fuses to hook in to. Having a multimeter is essential as well (bought one at Harbor Freight for $5) Good product. Hope it holds up.

I replaced a different model dash cam in my wife’s car when it drained the battery. I watched reviews and decided the Rexing seemed like a balance of cost and quality. I wanted the camera hard wired to hide wires and make the install look clean, but I only wanted the camera to turn on when the car is on. I did not want the parking monitor feature because I don’t want my wife’s car battery to drain again. The wires are not labeled correctly. When I installed the wiring, I located a switched fuse and connected the yellow wire. The red wire is left disconnected, and obviously the grounding wire is connected. When I first attempted this, the camera worked, however it only would turn on for about 20 seconds and then it would restart. I tried formatting the memory card but it did not resolve the issue. Eventually, I determined it was a memory card issue, so I switched the memory card to a 32gb card from the 128gb card I originally used. To summarize: if you want the camera to only turn on when the car is on, connect only the yellow wire to a switched fuse, connect the black grounding wire, and leave the red wire disconnected. Also, make sure you don’t use a memory card over 32gb and be sure it is formatted when inserted into the camera. After a few days the camera seems to work fine, and I’ll probably be ordering one for my car too

This was straightforward to install. I'm going to be frank: the reviewers that say "Oh the wiring is reverse and it stays on all the time when wired as directed" didn't install it correctly. You've got the acessory on/off connected to an always-hot fuse location, perhaps based on an (incorrect) assumption that the fuse you chose is switched. I experienced this exact scenario, the accessory fuse I was wiring into was on/off rather than always on despite the outlet it feeds turning off with the vehicle. It wasn't until I pulled out the multimeter and verified, that I realized my accessory circuit has additional relays and wiring that shut off the accessory outlet directly with the vehicle, but the fuse that feeds that circuit remains hot. For those who wire this up and it stays on all the time: check your fuses with a multimeter, and don't assume the fuse is cold because the thing it feeds turns off with the vehicle. Additionally, you need to know which side of the fuse connection is the hot side, and plug your wiring in appropriately, with the side of the connector without the wire connecting to the hot side of the fuse. It's really quite easy to do this wrong, and end up with a camera that either never turns on, stays on all the time, or shuts off even though you have parking mode enabled. Get a multimeter, verify your circuits, hook the fuse splice up in the right direction, and it'll likely work for you as intended.

Doesn't have a 90° plug. If I knew that I wouldn't have bought it. I can't speak on the compatibility of it, it's functions or anything else because it went straight to the bin. I can't use this and have a visible wire. **** UPDATE **** I decided to test it and I absolutely hate this. I wired it up with everything it came with and it doesn't work. It powers up, then goes off and stays off until I unplug it and plug it back in at the camera. I don't trust my camera anymore with this stupid kit. The constant and ignition aren't correct and constant doesn't work. The camera doesn't know it's connected to the smart kit. I want my money back!!!

Installation was straight forward after watching mfg's videos. Problem was it only comes with one mini fuse connector and the F-150 passenger side kick panel fuse box is all mini fuse. I there fore had to purchase and additional connector set and mini fuse from a different supplier. Once the second mini fuse adapter arrived I had to cut off original barrel snap connector and butt spliced (18-22 AWG red connectors) to the new connector to one of the leads. I didn't care for the original barrel snap connectors and feared it would eventually come loose. Therefore, I cut off the second connector as well and utilized the butt splice connector and heat shrunk them both. I utilized Slot # 27 (unused by Ford 30amp) for the constant power and Slot # 35 (400watt power invertor also 5 amp) for the ignition power. There are other spare fuse socket available but you can not necessarily install the fuse adapter wire to them due to spacing or the way the fuse box is recessed. After doing all this I had no power to my camera. After thinking about it for a while I decided to flip each fuse connector over and boom power now. I learned that the fuse slots have a positive and negative and once fuse connector were installed with fuse point up it matched the polarity and powered up. I would suggest before running all cables and removing multiple fascia pieces you test the connections an insure camera powers up before taking the extra time and effort to run the cabals behind all the facia panels and pieces. I also suggest having print out of the F-150's fuse box as the new manuals do not come with one. A mulit-meter or 12 VDC test list also helps when locating the constant and ignition power fuses.

Defective and broken product sent. The wires are taped up and sent without any quality checks. Not sold by rexing. Worst experience ever.

The hardwire kit is high quality and easy to install. I connected it to my fuse box and it works great with parking mode. The cable length is perfect, and the voltage protection gives peace of mind. Recommended for anyone with a Rexing dash cam.
