Second Purchase of Old Favorite
I got the first one in a Pic N Save (now Big Lots) at the same price as this one and it lasted 8 years. It requires an occasional vinegar-water treatment as minerals in the water build up inside the machine eventually, faster if your water is hard (has more minerals.) The user booklet gives instructions but I do it a bit differently. I brew the vinegar water only halfway through a cycle and shut it off so solution will sit inside awhile, few hours or overnight. Then brew the rest, dump it, then brew fresh water a couple times till no vinegar smell is left. I know it needs it when the output of the coffee gets lower and lower, and there is extended sputtering near the end as the machine struggles but fails to lift the last amount of water out of the tank or through the system because minerals have built rock hard layers that block things up. I suspect that this can overheat the machine too, which is not a good thing safety wise or coffee wise. For the same reason it is important to manually turn the machine off when it is done dripping coffee into your cup. Don't leave it on and dry. It's low tech, low price, and makes a perfect cup of coffee for me. Hope they make em forever.

Worked great for 5 days
I took excellent care of this coffee maker. Followed the instructions exactly. The coffee maker stopped making coffee after 5 days. I used it only once a dayin the morning. Save you're money and don't buy it...unless you need it for only 5 days.

I don't see the point.....
This little thing is way more trouble than it's worth. It brews very slowly. But the worst thing about it is that it makes a big mess for just one cup of coffee! It splashes all over as it brews, and leaves a puddle of coffee inside the brewing chamber besides having to clean out the permanent filter. The brewing chamber is full of nooks and crannies that are hard to clean. If you remove the little narrowing nozzle, it eliminates the puddle inside, but then it splashes more outside! It only makes a maximum cup of 10.5 oz. Big 15-oz mugs will not fit under it. After each cup, you have about 10 minutes of cleanup ahead of you! The filter screen on mine had gaps, but this did not seem to let grounds through. All in all, a waste of time for one small cup of java.I recommend the simple alternative of a single-cup brewing funnel (made by many different companies, and costs only a couple of bucks), which takes standard #1 paper filters and brews fast with no mess and a quick cleanup and turnaround time.

Great little appliance.
I have one of these and my sister has one. I ordered another one for my sister so she can have one for tea and one for coffee. We have had ours for a couple of years and do tea only. It is amazing that this little appliance continues to put out great tea over and over. My sister uses hers several times each day.The little filter does get clogged over time and the tea splashes on the counter a little but otherwise, no complaints. It is well worth the money and very convenient if you like tea or coffee for one person.

It's a disappointment but makes real good coffee
First the disappointments. In the "Frequently bought together" and "Customers who bought this item also bought" listings, a package of #1 filters was listed, so I assumed I could use the #1 filters I already had. Wrong - I shouldn't have assumed anything. The first time I used it, after it had finally finished brewing, I lifted the cover to remove and clean the filter and let the cover go over the back and it fell off. Okay, I thought, let's try the coffee. Well, it made a real good cup, maybe because of the time it took to brew and/or maybe because of the small size and shape of the filter that concentrates the water flow through all the coffee. So I decided since I already had it, I'd try to keep and use it. I stuck a small piece of foam double sided mounting tape up in the top center of the back which holds the cover from dropping too far back and falling off. It takes about double the time or more than my 20 year old plus B&D Cup-At-A-Time took, but after a couple of weeks it still makes a real good cup of coffee and probably worth the extra time it takes. And maybe because of the time it takes, the coffee is not really piping hot the way I like it. So I either heat the cup before switching the unit on or "nuke" it for 15 seconds when it's done. And last, and maybe least, it's very light weight and requires one hand to hold it and another to turn the switch on or off; ...and it's not an auto off like most coffee makers, but it doesn't seem to overheat even if left on. Not yet anyway,..

A perfect product
I love this coffee maker. I only drink decaf coffee, so with this I use my regular coffee pot for the caffeine drinkers in my family and my Cafe Uno just for me. It takes up almost no counter space sitting next to my 8 cup brewer. Some of the complaints were that the coffee isn't hot enough. I usually have to let my coffee sit awhile before I can drink it, but with Cafe Uno it's just the perfect temp for me. I like the cup too. Everything is easy to clean. I don't use any other filter except the basket that's provided. It's easy to rinse out under the faucet and I whisk it with a small bottle brush and set it right back in the brewer. Some say it splashes but I've never found that to be a problem. When a drop or two splashes out, just a quick wipe with a sponge. I had to give this five stars.
