The HandyBrew is a unique brewing device that is made by the manufacturers of the popular Clever Coffee Dripper. It combines the draining system of the Clever with the infusion/filtering of a French press. It uses a double stainless steel screen and will never need paper filters. The HandyBrew shares the same shut-off valve as the Clever which means you steep your coffee, place it on a cup and your coffee drains out. The HandyBrew's double filter eliminates a lot of the fine sediment that you would normally find in a cup made by a french press or other metal screen method. What you are left with is a cup with a good amount of body but minimal amounts of sediment. This is a good method to use if you want to bring out the sweetness in your coffee. We suggest a coarse grind, similar to what you would use in a french press.

Nice dripper
It is a handy brew dripper. I use it for tea and it works fine. You can make easly a light tea or wait and enjoy the stronger brew.

The bottom broke but it can still work. The filter does tend to clog, and it is some effort to clean. However, the quality of coffee it makes tends to outweigh these difficulties for me.

Great idea, but screen too fine
The concept here is perfect, but the mesh screen is too fine, even with a coarser grind of coffee, it would not filter the water and would stop up

Five Stars
Better than a french press... quality filters.

An Alternative to the French Press
I just received this as a Christmas present. It works well for me, as it will easily brew a 16-oz. cup of coffee. The double steel filters do a good job keeping grounds and sediment out of the coffee (a drawback on French presses), and the auto-shutoff feature is a nice touch. I put the grounds (I've even used fine grind) and steeping hot water in the brewer, stir, and wait 3-4 minutes, and then simply place it on top of the cup, where it empties hot coffee goodness ready to drink. The box suggests that the parts can be disassembled for cleaning, but there are no instructions on how to do this. So far, however, I haven't had any problems just rinsing and wiping with a soft sponge. It takes a modicum more effort to brew a cup of coffee this way, but so far, the results have been worth it!

This is one of the best methods I've found for making one mug of coffee
I'm a coffee geek. Home coffee roaster. This is one of the best methods I've found for making one mug of coffee. I have no problem with clogging using a relatively coarse grind but I do have a high quality grinder. I would guess a decent burr grinder should suffice but if you use a whirly blade grinder you might not get good results with anything but a paper filter due to too much fines (in which case you'd want the Clever Dripper instead).

Filter tends to clog
I bought the large size version of this from another seller. I found it works great for one cup, but if I try to use it's full capacity and brew 2-3 cups at the same time, the filter clogs up. I've even tried a very coarse french press type grind but it didn't help.
