Useful accessory
This was useful to angle the screen, especially for video calls.

I will never ever purchase another amazon product again
Constantly disconnects from the Internet. If you go to setting it shoes its receiving Internet and connected to WiFi however somehow it keeps saying there's no Internet restart router. Do that despite everything else in my house working fine and its still says the same thing. This goes for the 2 echo dots that I have and also the studio. Complete waste of money. On top of this when it does work you have to repeat yourself about 6 times for it to get what you're saying if it doesn't completely ignore you in the first place. Same with their ring devices I have 2 floodcams and doorbell which can never stay connected to the Internet. Have to reconnect at least once a quarter and after a few years it takes its toll. Would never purchasee another device made by amazon ever again. Fad that doesn't live up to be what it was made for

My mum loves it
Great little device. My mum and younger sister love using it. It's not always responsive but screen quality is great and they use it all the time

Arguably an essential item that should be bundled with the Show or even be part of it.
In 2020, when the rules about minimising social contact came in due to Covid 19 I bought a pair of Echo Show 8s so that my daughters could have video chats with their granny who they would normally see every day.Putting the Show 8 on the TV bench meant that the camera was angles such that we had to stand up and move closer to the Show if we wanted to be seen when making or receiving a call. A stand would help but the official Amazon one was something like £25 at the time, which seemed a bit steep for a bit of plastic. I could have bought a third party stand but you never know if they're going to be terribly sturdy or fit properly.Eventually I happened to notice this stand was reduced to £13 during Black Friday and finally pulled the trigger to purchase it. It certainly cured the problem of us needing to get up to be seen - the stand allows the Show 8 to be tilted quite far forward to the point that you'd have thought it would have fallen off.Overall this is a good product for what it does. However, I think the original price of £25 was too much and arguably I'd say the stand should be a part of the Echo show.

Indispensable!!
How does anyone manage without Alexa? I now have three. A small one, which was the original and now lives in my garden room, and two of these. My black one lives in the sitting room, and my white one lives in my bedroom. She always has the right time ready, tell me the news and the weather forecast, plays whatever radio station I ask her to, and switches on or off any lamps I ask her to. She has very good sound quality when she plays radio. She will set an alarm for me whever I want. She will even tell jokes, if I’m that desperate! She will read any audio books I have on my phone or iPad. I wish I had known about her when my polymyalgia was bad and it was so hard to reach the switch on my bedside lamp. Now, I get settled down how I want to be, on my side away from the lamp if I want, and just ask her to turn it off for me. She even shows me a slideshow of all the pictures I have in the Cloud and on my iPad, numbering some 30,000!!! I choose to have her show fewer if I wanted. Fortunately, she goes to sleep at a time I tell her! I wouldn’t want her showing pictures all night in my bedroom!

Out-stand-ing Accessory
Out-stand-ing!I held off from purchasing this item for a long time. The main reason was down to the price. It seemed a bit excessive for the stand to an item that I only paid about £40 more for. That said, I was fortunate on this occasion to receive an offer of 25% off the asking price. That would be my only down side to the item, it could do with being reduced by at least £5.That said, the item is of good quality, it is sturdy, and the Echo Show 8 fits perfectly on the top of it, (well, it's not going to fit underneath it is it... it's a stand!). The device magnetises on the stand, and holds it into position;. the magnetism is strong, so it is in no danger of falling, or slipping off.The stand can be directed up and down (not left or right), but it certainly helps to point the camera/screen in the right direction for your "Drop In" function, which has been invaluable during the many lockdowns we've had.If you do have an Echo Show 8, then this is worthwhile getting as an additional accessory. Aside from the price, that alone isn't worth telling you to stay away from this product. It is a worthwhile product.
