Wicked! Paperback – Import, May 7, 2007

Delicious - another knockout book by Jilly Cooper! While some think of her books as literary bodice rippers, they are much more than that. Let's say, social commentary dressed in juicy detail. She's an amazingly gifted writer with a wry eye on social mores. In Wicked! she takes on themes largely related to inequity - still a subject of incredible importance. The gap between rich and poor, educational hypocrisies, racism/enforced ghettoism, male:female inequity in the workplace, and on and on. All with an amazing cast of characters - some familiar, some new.

I never cry reading books anymore, but, I did tear up several times in Wicked! My third time reading this incredible book. More please?

This is my favorite so far of Jilly Cooper’s Rutminster books. Her characters and stories are always full of detail and truly transport you to the place and time they inhabit. The book is long and involved so beware, but I was interested, entertained and amused all the way through. I loved learning how British schools, both public and private, are ran. And the students were lovingly written and I was thoroughly invested in their quest to pass their GCSEs and in their chaotic lives. I’m not British but I always want to be after reading one of Cooper’s books!

I love jilly cooper, I live in the US and it is hard to find her work. The usual beloved characters that I have followed since my teens. They have aged with me but keep their characters. Lots of twists and gossip. A great read with old friends.

As always, Jilly Cooper's book is brilliant - funny, tongue in cheek and a bit sexy. I have read quite a few of her books and this one again has been all I expected :-)

I used to really like her books but not so much any longer. Don't know if I've changed with the years or her writing has or perhaps hasn't.

Jilly Cooper's books are fantastic and this one is no less!

Trashy but enormously fun read! Perfect for the beach or vacation.

I love these books: reading them is like coming home to a warm fire and friends you've known and loved. It's heaven to step into the safe and sexy, funny but above all fabulous world. Please write more Jilly!

Great read.

I've had this title on my to read list for years and finally picked it up last week. I have just finished it and have to say I utterly loved it. It made me laugh, cry, rage and whoop over and over again! The subject matter can be rather disturbing at times so with warning it is definitely not for the faint hearted!!!I would highly recommend reading all of the Rutshire Chronicles in order before picking this one up, with the inclusion of so many prior protagonists it will thoroughly enhance your experience of the novel.
