can you add scent or something to make it a different color ?

Yes, you can add essential oils, fragrance oils, or candle dye. Just remember that this starter kit doesn’t come with that much wax. Enough to make 2 smallish candles. And you may wish to purchase better wicks. Every wick I used from this kit only makes a very small wax pool so my candles tunneled.

Do you use the wax pouring pot by putting it with the wax inside a boiling pot of water?

Yes but not boiling because it will splatter and will ruin the wax Let it boil and lower the heat so it won't splash

Approximately how many candles can you make with this kit?

I made one medium size candle in a piece of pottery. Only 12 ounces of wax is included.

Does anyone else’s wicks make their candles smell super smokey?

hmm, i've not had that issue, used this kit to re-wick a candle i got off etsy.
