Great Stuff!
Since alot of Girlschool's early albums are so hard to find this collection is a real godsend. The song selection is good(i have a few quibbles about songs that should have been included but that's life)and there's some really good live tracks as well. The liner notes are somewhat dissapointing, they don't tell you who is playing on the songs or which album they are taken from but there are alot of photos of the band's various incarnations. If you're into aggresive guitar driven punk/metal then this is a must have.

SCHOOL DAZE
GIRLSCHOOL-THE COLLECTION: Arriving on the scene just after THE RUNAWAYS' demise, Britain's piledriving GIRLSCHOOL proved a tougher, more technically adept all-gal ensemble, slamming out raunchy, no nonsense anthems in a much harder rocking vein than JOAN JETT and her buddies. The fearsome foursome tackled MOTORHEAD's BOMBER (they also teamed up with LEMMY and company on the sweaty PLEASE DON'T TOUCH), ZZ TOP's teaser TUSH and glam-slam faves such as GARY GLITTER's I'M THE LEADER OF THE GANG and SWEET's FOX ON THE RUN. Their own crash 'n burn material included heavy duty ditties with titillating titles like SCREAMING BLUE MURDER, DON'T CALL IT LOVE and PLAY DIRTY. Led by brazen belters/guitarists KIM MCAULIFFE and KELLY JOHNSON, the all encompassing double platter COLLECTION spans almost fifty tracks of kick-ass antics, peppered with hard to get live shots and B-sides. While less adventurous eighties listeners were cozying up to tame bubble-wave from THE GO-GOS and THE BANGLES, the cool crowd knew GIRLSCHOOL was the only group that could hold their own with the big boys...and then some.RATING: FOUR TOUGH CHICKS

Well done!
This compilation set is well worth the asking price because it shows just what a buncha old British broads can do. Great music.

Good Anthology
If you like 80's British Metal you are sure to like Girlschool. This cd has alot of material, it is well produced and the packaging is very cool. It's a good price for a 2cd set. I nabbed one, and I love it. Most of their early stuff is out of print. They are harder than the Runaways - good catchy riffs, heavily influenced ny Motorhead. Good Metal!!

Hit and run
It's easy to forget how good some bands were when they have dropped from the headlines.Girlschool really could play, and this album is an excellent collection of their best work.

Oldies..
Was one of my favourites, some years ago, and have mislaid vinyl records during a separation. It is nice to be able to get some of the sounds back onto my shelf.
