The Celtic Tree Oracle: A System of Divination

After a quick view, disenchanted, I pulled a card for "Return this deck?" Answer: "Phagos Beech": ...You will often need to return to the past to ... rediscover lost wisdom...." ... "You have an obligation to observe this work and further it in your own time." OK, OK, I have been wanting to get the know the Celts/Druids for a long time; and this book and deck actually seem like a genuine window finally found. Reading the card meanings and looking everything over patiently I felt a little of the reverence the authors felt. It will take a little investment in time with it’s 15 card spread (I tend to spend one minute on a reading with an app on my phone). FYI, reasons for the initial dissatisfaction: I regretted that this deck has the smallest number of cards of any I own; and my senior eyes have trouble seeing the detail on the small cards. Doesn’t matter. I want to tap the wisdom of my ancestors. (I once laboriously copied a relatively simple drawing from the ancient Lindisfarne Gospels and suddenly had the sensation of floating on a cloud! Like magic. I realized there was something unsuspected in the past that was for me.) And the card meanings here are unlike other decks I have and open a new window of perception.

I used this Oracle in the 1980s and 2000s. I’m glad to have it again. It compliments other sources I have such as The Green Man Tree Oracle by John Matthews, and Jane Gifford’s The Wisdom of the Trees book. This is the first tree Oracle I know of. It stands up well with similar Celtic Oracles.

This is an amazing deck! Beautifully rendered, perfect size, and durable box. Tho I ordered a paperback the author gave me a hardback instead! It is packed with sacred & interesting information about the language of my Ancestors. With this deck I feel closer to my Path than I have ever been!

These are pretty cards in a display-worthy box with a hard cover guide book. It even comes with a note pad to write down inquiry results if you want. I had no issues with the cards bending when shuffling, even if I used the "casino dealer shuffle" method, so they're nice and sturdy. The book goes into a little of the history of the ogham as well as gives detailed explanations for each few. Though the explanations in this guide book seem to differ from other ogham guide books I've read, so that kind of confused me. Still, I love these cards and am pleased.

Soft and gentle as the Celtec's were, yet rich with history and folklore. Brilliantly written in this subject, one could immediately identify with the knowledge being given. Pocket size information on each item was unique and concise all at the same time without wading through pages of lore and history. Not that the larger volumes do not have a part to play in teaching the subject at depth, it is just so cute and informative to have the pocket addition for quick reference if the need requires it. Cards were beautifully designed and printed and the whole package has become a welcome addition to my special library.

I finally received the full box set after a few purchases where I only received the book.Let's start with the cons:1) The box is not very durable. It arrived well packaged, but broken apart. I was able to glue it back together with wood glue with little effort, but I was somewhat disappointed.2) The cards are quite beautiful, but they are small. They are about the size of a standard deck of playing cards and I would love for them to be larger.3) The contents don't fit tightly into the box, they tend to get all mixed up when turned upright to store.4) It is quite an expensive set for what you get.But, overall I am still happy with this purchase because:1) This is a really unique set of cards for divination or for use as visuals for meditation.2) The cards are very well designed and quite beautiful.3) The book is compact and concisely offers a wealth of well-written information.A note on ordering: Since this is out of print, you will have to order used. Be sure to confirm with the seller (if it does not say explicitly in the description) that you are ordering the complete set and not just the book.

I'm a tad disappointed that the cards aren't as sturdy as cards by other manufacturers, they bend and fray so easily and I've only had them for a little over a month. So, my warning is to be gentle. I love the smaller size and the way the cards are done, as well as the layout of the book. All in all, it's a great way to learn Ogham.

At first I could not make heads nor tails of the book interpretations. and still find them cumbersome to read through, but this is oracle system that comes to life by working with it. rather than reading the book. What an amazing tool. I am thankful there are other books out there. Ones that are more focused on learning from the tree essence itself. The book is interesting read, and throws out some interesting concepts for further exploration, depending on what captures your attention. The book is written in style of a magical book with hidden depths beyond the surface words. All in all, a fascinating system. Grateful esp. to the artist for producing such beautiful cards. The card stock is average. The cards are bridge card size, or size of lenormand/kipper decks. The small size does not hinder the beauty of the cards. The details are easy to see. Falling in love with this gorgeous deck. Give it a chance, and work with it. rather than read about it.

First of all, I was pleasantly surprised at the packaging and presentation of this product, I wasnt expecting it to come in a wooden box, so first impressions were great.I tend to use the tarot more and decided to try oracle cards for a different outlook and interpretation. Having always had an interest in Celtic astrology and such, and having celtic roots myself, I wanted to find an oracle deck that I could relate to. I think that the Celtic Tree Oracle cards are fantastic, the meanings are very deep and spiritual but also very easy to understand, one can ask a question and yes, pull out one card and have that question answered. From a seemingly relatively small amount of text for each card, ok, two pages isnt that small, but the actual meaning or answer contained within, seems to 'branch' out like a tree, expand, so the knowledge received is far more than what is written on those two pages. I totally recommend this book and cards.

Bit disappointed at the card size. I didn't think it would bother me so much having cards this small and fairly flimsy. However given the detail in them I wish they were bigger. The box, book, the chart and pad are great just a shame on the cards

Fascinating, and dare I say it, possibly reliable way to answer worries you have. All my questions have been answered correctly so far.
