Durable, Solid, Quiet, and Small
This little step-down box won't let you down. The build is high quality, with super tight outlets and a well-made metal case. It runs pretty quietly compared to the devices I plug into it. It's *really* heavy though, so be prepared. I've been using this transformer for nearly a year now, and it's worked no less than perfectly.

works great, but tight fit
I bought this to charge some of my vintage japanese robots, and it works perfectly. everything was already preset to be used in the US so it was super easy to set up. only issue I had was that even with using my full body weight to plug the plug into the japanese socket on the transformer it wouldn't go in. I had to bend the prongs inside gently with a flathead and then it went in easily. definitely recommend though! overall it's hefty and nice quality.

Great for JDM electric appliances.
Exactly what we needed to use an air purifier we bought from Japan. No issues whatsoever. It's been a few months and it's going strong. I think there were some slightly cheaper units, but this one had consistently good reviews. For something like this you definitely want good build and engineering because without it whatever you plug in to it becomes useless and sometimes that means expensive useless.Oh yeah, I forgot to mention you need to check how much your appliance is going to draw before buying any transformer and plan to get one with the appropriate rating. This unit is rated at a max of 200 Watts. Keep in mind that transformers/power supplies, in general, work optimally at about 50% of the rated maximum load. Any more than 50% and not only is the unit less efficient, it will physically start to heat up and all the extra heat/work will shorten its lifespan and blow the fuses. For my appliance I knew it wouldn't pull more than 100 Watts (I think mine was rated at a max of 80 watts), so I knew this 200 Watt model would work very well. Also of note is that although it steps-up and steps-down, it only has the Japanese 2 prong outlet. So you'll need an adapter if you want to use it to step-up and plug in a US 2 prong or 3 prong.

The VCT VT-500J - Is perfect for use with my CostWay Mini washing machine, Rated at 110V~AC 60Hz
The VCT VT-500J - Is perfect for use with my CostWay Mini washing machine, Rated at 110V AC At it's input. because, 119+ Volts over 110 is too much for the motor, and causes it to run, too hard, and too hot and too loud. This Transformer brings the voltage down to a more suitable voltage, allowing my washing machine tooperate properly, because of this the motor will last much longer. Here in the US We run a voltage under 240 Volt AC, and a split circuit of under 120 Volts AC, at 60 Hz, but never down as far as 110. A lot of refrigerators and air conditioners are however, rated at 115-117 Volts AC. this exception is because of resistance of the load.I decided to change the outlet on the first Transformer I bought and wanted to show people my reason for the modification. Works great for Japanese game consoles in the US!
I have a Japanese Nintendo Super Famicom game console from the 1990's, with an aging OEM Japanese power supply rated for 100V input. Before I got this transformer, whenever plugged into my American wall outlet, which supplies 120V, (or an extension cord coming out of the wall or a surge protector,) it would become very hot within hours, even while the console was powered off for those hours! Now, with this transformer in the mode that steps down from 120V to 100V, my Super Famicom still works great, and the power supply stays relatively cool - especially since the switch on the front of the transformer makes it easy for me to turn it off when not in use.Of course, since the Super Famicom is probably only pulling 8.5W max, I am waaaaaaay under this transformer's power budget, and am not pushing it very hard, it's also only seeing use for a few hours per day (while I'm playing only), a few days per week. But, it does work great! I also appreciate the extra included fuses, but I haven't needed them yet thankfully.
